The Wisconsin volleyball team is looking to break a two-match losing streak against ranked opponents when it takes on 22nd-ranked Minnesota on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the UW Field House in Madison.

The 11th-ranked Badgers got swept at home by top-ranked and undefeated Nebraska on Oct. 31. They also lost a four-game match to then-No. 25 USC, also at home, on Oct. 19.

Wisconsin (16-4 overall and 9-3 in the Big Ten) bounced back from the Nebraska loss by sweeping at Ohio State on Nov. 2, their most recent match.

The Badgers have beaten the Gophers (17-6, 7-5) in their last six matches in Madison. Minnesota is coming off a five-set home loss to USC on Nov. 1.

The Minnesota match is the first of two home matches this week against ranked opponents — Wisconsin faces No. 18 Indiana on Sunday, Nov. 9. They’re both crucial showdowns in one respect; Minnesota and Indiana are tied for 12th in the RPI rankings, while Wisconsin is 20th. The Badgers will need to be among the NCAA’s top 16 seeds to host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament.
