PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle Water Polo team earned a 1-3 record as the Explorers host four MAAC opponents at Kirk Pool this weekend. The Explorers honored four seniors for Senior Day before the final game vs Villanova: Francesca Co’, Sofia Kolovou, Tatum Lomax, and Carlotta Zandali.

HOW IT HAPPENED – VMI (W, 17-10)
- La Salle built a 4-1 lead before VMI scored with just over a minute left. Francesca Co’ scorched the net with under a minute remaining to take a 5-2 lead to close the quarter. Martina Bonet Saez and Sofia Kolovou notched two each.
- The Keydets outscored the Explorers, 3-2 in the second; Tatum Lomax and Co’ scored for La Salle.
- The Explorers hammered VMI in the third, outscoring the visitors 6-1. Five different members of the Blue & Gold found the back of the net, including Allie Hollo twice to conclude the period. La Salle led 13-6.
- La Salle emptied the bench in the fourth as each side scored four goals. Amanda Fadil and Carlotta Zandali each scored their first goal of the game as La Salle secured a 17-10 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED – #17 WAGNER (L, 25-16)
- The Seahawks built an early 7-2 lead in the first quarter. Bonet Saez and Co’ scored for the Blue & Gold.
- Wagner expanded its lead to eight during an action-packed second frame. The teams combined for 15 goals, with the Seahawks taking a 16-8 lead into halftime. Four different La Sallians found the back of the net, with Co’ and Bonet Saez scoring twice each.
- Wagner buried under a double-digit deficit in the third quarter despite continued offensive fireworks. Ella Tice got on the board in addition to several other La Sallians.
- Co’ and Bonet Saez led the charge with five and four goals, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED – RV LIU (L, 17-12)
- LIU took a 4-2 lead they would not relinquish in the first quarter, with goals from Bonet Saez and Kolovou.
- La Salle kept pace in the second quarter, with goals from Co’, Lomax, and Mitchell. The teams entered halftime, with the Sharks in front, 7-5.
- Bonet Saez cut the lead to one to open the third quarter, but LIU scored the next four of the next five to build a four-point advantage, 11-7. Bonet Saez scored all three of La Salle’s goals in the third quarter as the Explorers trailed 12-8 at the end of three.
- The Explorers had ample scoring in the final frame, with goals from Co’ and Kolovou, but the Sharks closed the game out with a pair of goals to stretch the lead out of reach.
HOW IT HAPPENED – VILLANOVA (L, 14-13 OT)
- For the second straight game, La Salle fell behind 4-2 in the first quarter. Grace Smith scored a critical goal with 27 seconds left on the board to keep La Salle in the game early.
- The teams traded goals in a tough second-quarter. Villanova scored twice, but Smith and Co’ returned serve to set the game at 6-4 going into halftime.
- The Explorers opened the third quarter with three straight goals from Co’ to take a 7-6 lead. The Wildcats netted one to tie, but La Salle came right back with two more to secure the lead going into the fourth.
- Villanova tied the game in the fourth quarter at ten. La Salle retook the lead off a goal from Co’ with 1:26 remaining, but Villanova tied the game with 19 seconds left.
- In a wild overtime, Bonet Saez scored to open the period, but the visitors from The Main Line respond with two straight. Bonet Saez added another with 1:22 left in the second overtime period, but Villanova scored on the next possession to take the lead and the win.

- La Salle has a week off before heading up The Main Line to play three games at Villanova on the first weekend of April.
