Waxahachie Youth Athletic Association has kids practicing football all over town | Sports
Fall football is about to get underway, and one can see young athletes at various football fields around the city – working hard and sweating during these hot, hot summer days. In fact, players have already been practicing for over three weeks. And prior to that, in June, some coaches offered optional conditioning training. However, in the month of July, they began their actual team practices, which featured a lot of running to get in shape, calisthenics to stay healthy, agility drills to help with footwork and quickness, memorization of set formations for specific plays, and try outs for various positions on the team, etc. The boys generally range in age from tiny tots (mostly flag football for those ages) and then set teams are based on what age and grade they are in at the beginning of the new school year.
