Week Ahead: Monday, Oct. 27 to Sunday, Nov. 2

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — Here’s a look at the week ahead (Oct. 27-Nov. 2) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:
TUESDAY
FIELD HOCKEY, at home, Framingham State, 7:00 PM: It will be Senior Night as the Bears play their final home game of the regular-season at Mazzaferro Field.
BSU (13-3, 8-2 in the MASCAC) are 6-2 at home while the Rams are 3-13 and 2-8 in the conference.
The Bears defeated Framingham State on Oct. 4, 5-1.
WEDNESDAY
VOLLEYBALL, at Salem State, 6:00 PM: The Bears end October with their next-to-last road game.
BSU is 11-4 and leads the MASCAC at 5-0 while the Vikings are 9-12 and 2-4 in the conference.
THURSDAY
FIELD HOCKEY, at Wheaton College, 7:00 PM: The Bears play their second of three games in five days, traveling to Norton for a non-conference game.
The teams met last season for the first time since 2019 with the Lyons winning, 4-2.
Wheaton is 7-9 and enters the week with a four-game losing streak.
SATURDAY
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY, at MASCAC Championships, 11:00 AM: The Bears seek their second straight conference championship in a meet at Stanley Park in Westfield.
BSU’s Kevin McBirney finished first in 2024 in Leominster and the Bears won for the third time in five years. BSU had five of the top seven finishers.
WOMEN’S SOCCER, at Framingham State, 11:00 AM: The Bears finish the regular season with a trip to Framingham.
BSU is 4-1-2 in the MASCAC, 4-7-4 overall, while the Rams are 3-2-2 in the conference and 5-7-4 overall.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY, at MASCAC Championships, Noon: BSU senior Naomi Cass bids for a third straight conference championship after winning by nearly 25 seconds last year in Leominster.
The Bears finished second to Westfield State a year ago. The Owls are hosting this season at Stanley Park.
FOOTBALL, at Fitchburg State, Noon: The Bears are looking for a third straight win as they play the next-to-last road game.
BSU has improved to 3-4 and 3-3 in the MASCAC after defeating Dean and UMass Dartmouth following a bye week.
The Falcons, who lost to BSU, 17-9, a year ago, are 3-4 and 2-4 in the MASCAC with two straight wins.
MEN’S SOCCER, at home, Framingham State, Noon: The Bears end the regular season with a game against the Rams.
BSU and Mass. Maritime are tied for first in the MASCAC, but the Buccaneers have the tiebreaker.
BSU is 10-5-1, 5-1-1 in the conference, with three straight wins. Framingham State is 1-13-3, 1-5-1 in the MASCAC.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING, at home, Wheaton College, 2:00 PM: The Bears have their first of four home dates this season, going against the Lyons.
BSU lost to Wheaton, 170-115, a year ago. The Lyons are 0-2, dropping a tri-meet with Bentley University and Wellesley, while the Bears took part in the Roger Williams Invitational.
MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING, at home, Wheaton College, 2:00 PM: The Lyons visit BSU after opening their season with a loss to Bentley University.
BSU lost to Wheaton, 131-90, last season and had its first competition over the weekend at the Roger Williams Invitational.
WRESTLING, at home, Southern Maine, 2:00 PM: The Bears open the 2025-26 season by hosting the Panthers.
The Bears lost last year’s opener at Southern Maine, 41-12.
FIELD HOCKEY, at Worcester State, 5:00 PM: The end of the regular season arrives for the Bears, who travel to Worcester.
BSU rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Lancers, 3-2, at home on Oct. 7.
Worcester State is 6-10, 6-4 in the MASCAC, and enters the week with three straight wins.
SUNDAY
EQUESTRIAN, at home, 9:00 AM: The Bears have their lone home show at the Dorbill Stables in Bridgewater.
BSU has one more show in November after this to end the fall semester.
