KINGWOOD, W.Va. — A woman is facing charges in Preston County after a pellet gun shooting that killed a 9-year-old late last year.

West Virginia State Police said Lane Sines, 9, was shot and killed with the pellet gun in a home on Pell Road in the late evening or early morning Dec. 29-30.

Investigators said the shooting happened at the home of Lianna King, 32, where she was responsible for watching the children. Troopers believe the shooting happened after the juveniles got out of the car and went into the home while King remained in the car in the driveway.

King transported Sines to Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital where he died while being treated.

King has been charged with felony child neglect resulting in death.

King has pleaded not guilty and is free on a $100,000 bond.

King is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Preston County Magistrate Court Aug. 6 at 9 a.m.
