GREENWOOD— Four student-athletes from the Carthage College women’s basketball team have been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday. The student-athletes included Emma Carlson, Elena Knebel, Emma Thistle, and Malia Green.Knebel, a senior from Lockport, Ill., started in all 26 games for the Firebirds while averaging 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.Social Banner

Thistle, a senior from Grafton, Wis., started in all 26 games for the Firebirds and averaged 7.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.The 2024-25 Academic All-District® women’s basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men’s basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.Green, a junior from Madison, Wis., also started in all 26 games for Carthage this season. Green averaged 9.5 points per game along with 3.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.6 steals.Carlson, a graduate student from Northfield, Minn. and Lawrence University, started in 23 games for the Firebirds during the 2024-25 season. Carlson averaged 8.6 points per game, along with 7.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
