ITHACA, N.Y. – Brown women’s hockey (14-11-3, 9-9-3 ECAC) was defeated 6-2 by No. 4 Cornell (20-4-4, 16-2-3 ECAC) in the penultimate game of the regular season for the Bears.Ava DeCoste and Monique Lyons each tallied a goal for the Bears who will be playing for the No. 7 or No. 8 seed in the ECAC Playoffs in their game tomorrow.Cornell doubled its lead just over 30 seconds into the third and added two more goals for the final tally.GAME NOTES
With under a minute left in the second, Cornell responded with a goal to take a 3-2 lead into the third period.Cornell took an early 2-0 lead after the first period but the Bears bounced back in the second. With the Bears on the power play, Lyons passed to DeCoste at the top, who sent one through traffic, past the Cornell goalie to cut the lead in half.BROWN UNIVERSITY SPORTS FOUNDATION

Zupkofska finished the night with 17 saves.
- Lyons tallied her 14th goal of the season, the most by a Brown freshman since Jade Iginla had 16 back in 2022-23.
- Lyons now has 14 goals and 10 assists and DeCoste is up to 11 goals and 10 assists. The duo join Iginla from last season (16 goals, 11 assists) as the only three Bears to reach double-digit goals and assists in a season since Hayley Moore in 2007-08 (13 goals, 15 assists).
- Zupkofska made her first appearance in net since the Bears took on Bemidji State on Jan. 4.
- With a regulation win over Colgate tomorrow and a regulation loss by Princeton against Rensselaer, the Bear would clinch the No. 7 seed. Any other scenario would make Brown the No. 8 seed and the Bears would host Union in the first round of the playoffs on Feb. 22.

Brown will close out the regular season with a contest against No. 5 Colgate on Saturday at 3 p.m.Four minutes later, Sam Broz won a faceoff in the offensive zone directly to Lyons, who took a one-timer that beat the goalie blocker-side to tie the game.
