PRINCETON, N.J. – On Tuesday, the Ivy League announced its women’s sailing All-Ivy teams, recognizing three members of the Big Green.

Skipper Sarah Young, crew Lilly Baker, and crew Faye Benjamin were each named to an All-Ivy team. Young earned First Team All-Ivy honors, Baker was named to the second team, and Banjamin placed herself on the Academic All-Ivy team for her work on the water and in the classroom.

Young has competed in a regatta every weekend of the season for the Big Green, eight in the fall and seven so far this spring season. She also competed at the Women’s Singlehanded National Championship, earning fifth place.

To start the fall season, Young helped the Big Green to four straight top five finishes including first place in the first regatta of the season at the Toni Deutsch ’58 Trophy. She closed out the fall season with two second place finishes and a fifth-place finish.

This spring, Young has led Dartmouth to all top 10 finishes, highlighted by a third-place finish at the New England Inter-collegiate Sailing Association Women’s Team Race Championship. Dartmouth also earned seventh and fifth place finishes at the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association Open Team Race and Women’s Team Race National Championships.

Sophomore crew Baker landed herself on the second team for her contributions in twelve regattas this season. During the fall season, the Big Green placed in the top five in five of the six regattas Baker raced in. She earned a first place finish in the A Division alongside Young in the Toni Deutsch ’58 Trophy to start the season followed by a third, fourth, and back-to-back second place finishes.

In the spring, the Big Green earned six top-ten finishes when Baker was in the boat. Their best finish was third place at the NEISA Women’s Team Race Championship.

Finally, Benjamin was recognized as the Big Green’s Academic All-Ivy honoree for her success with the team and in the classroom. She started the fall season with a first place finish at the Harvard Invitational before going on to collect five more top ten finishes, including two second place finishes in the B Division in the Yale Women’s Interconference and the first round of the women’s Atlantic Coast Championship.

Recently, Benjamin helped the Big Green to a fifth place finish in the ICSA Women’s Team Race National Championship. In the previous spring season races, Dartmouth finished in the top ten in ever regatta she competed in.

The Big Green will conclude their season in two weeks with the Fleet Race National Championships. The women’s race will happen first from May 20-23 with the open championship to follow from May 27-30.
