Waterville, Maine – The Women’s Track and Field team at Colby College kicked off their season by hosting their inaugural meet, going head-to-head with Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, Thomas College, and the University of Maine at Farmington. The Mules showcased their prowess by racking up a remarkable total of 160 points, clinching first place and commencing the season with robust momentum.

The Mules emerged victorious in eight out of the sixteen events, including sweeping the top three finishes in both the Women’s 200 Meters and 400 Meters. Simone Waheed was the standout performer, taking first place in the 60 Meters and 200 Meters with times of 7.77 seconds and 25.86 seconds, respectively. Colby also triumphed in the 4×400 Relay, as Kristina Pizzi, Quinn Cushing, Marielle Goganian, and Charlotte Brake-Hoffman combined their efforts to clock a winning time of 4:11.98.

In the field portion of the events, Gabriella Bresnick shone in the Pole Vault, achieving a height of 2.80 meters for first place. Additionally, Kaitlyn Ewald contributed another victory for Colby in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.98 meters.

As the Mules look forward to the new year, their next event is scheduled for January 17th, where they will compete in the Bates Invitational in Lewiston, Maine.
