Women’s Volleyball Picked Third in NEWMAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll
BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College women’s volleyball team was picked to finish third out of 12 schools when the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its 2025 preseason coaches’ poll on Wednesday.
Defending regular season champion MIT received eight of the 12 first-place votes to finish atop the poll with 118 points, while defending tournament champ Smith earned the remaining four top votes to finish runner-up with 111. Babson was a solid third with 99 points, while Springfield (89), Coast Guard (77) and Wellesley (71) rounded out the top half of the poll.
Led by 15th-year head coach Eric Neely, the Beavers return 13 veterans from last year’s squad that finished 23-7 overall and 7-4 in NEWMAC play to finish tied for fourth in the regular season race. The Green and White made six straight NCAA Tournament second-round appearances from 2017-2023, including a trip to the Division III quarterfinals in 2018.
The Beavers open the 2025 campaign at the Johns Hopkins Greg “Gio” Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament in Baltimore on August 29-30. The NEWMAC debut against Wheaton is set for September 23 in Norton, Mass.
