PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women’s water polo begins its chase for a CWPA Championship as the Bears open up the CWPA Tournament against Bucknell on Friday (April 25) at 7:30 p.m.

2025 CWPA CHAMPIONSHIP PAGE

All games of the CWPA Championship will be streamed on ESPN+

Brown comes into the tournament as the No. 4 seed, finishing the year with a 7-5 mark in CWPA play and a 16-13 record overall. The Bears will be hosting the No. 5 seed Bucknell in the first round.

Ella Palmer was named CWPA First Team All-Conference for the second-straight season and Roxanne Hazuka, Aubrie Anderson and Ava Schoening were all named Honorable Mention. Read more here.

The Bears were led this season by Anderson’s 59 goals. Schoening was second on the team with 44, followed by Palmer’s 36 and Sofia Holman’s 35. Cleo Washer led Brown with 36 assists.

On defense, Hazuka was the top netminder for Brown with 199 saves, five shy of her career-high 204 from last season. Madeleine Poissonnier led Brown’s defense with 34 steals. Followed by 29 from Washer and 28 from Anderson.

SCOUTING BUCKNELL

Bucknell finished the season 4-8 in conference play and 14-12 overall. The Bison lost their last three contests, falling to Harvard, Brown and Princeton to close the regular season.

Bucknell had two All-CWPA honorees with Olivia Hopper being named Second Team and Ashley Hopper being named First Team.

Olivia Hopper led Bucknell with 77 goals, while Ashley Hopper was tied with Boati Motau with 29 goals.

INSIDE THE SERIES

Brown took both meetings against Bucknell this season, winning 13-10 and 11-7. The Bears have won 11-straight games against Bucknell, including three-straight meetings in the CWPA Tournament the last three seasons.
