Both of the graduate degrees are completed online so students in the programs can achieve their degree from where they are. The curriculum aims to prepare students for the certified professional sport scientist exam, which can make way for a career as a sports scientist able to work with athletes, including at the professional level. Now the school who values and excels in athletics will be offering two new related masters degrees come Fall 2025 through health and human performance. “A lot of those students also participate in athletics and they love our athletics dominance, they love our athletics energy, they love the experiences they’ve had here as part of our athletics programs and so for us these two things fitting together is just the beautiful next step for Wartburg College,” said Rebecca Ehretsman, President of Wartburg College. “Any area in which you have the opportunity to support athletes and utilize data and considering nutrition and psychology and helping them be successful as holistic athletes,” said Gleason. “If you happen to be a strength and conditioning coach at a small college in let’s just say Montana, you can also be a part of this program and you can do your practicum in real time with the students and the athletes you serve,” Ehretsman said. WAVERLY, Iowa (KCRG) – Wartburg College in Waverly boasts being the first Division lll school to be outfitted with an EliteForm motion tracking system across its weight room. The masters of science in high performance or masters of science in sport science and data analytics degrees will be achieved online and in two years time. Wartburg College will be hosting webinars for those wanting to learn more. You can register for the webinars here. “Within the sports science and data analytics program it’s a deep dive into considering how we are using information about athletes and considering how we can optimize performance of athletes,” Gleason explained.
