NEW YORK – Columbia senior 174-pounder Jack McGill finished the weekend 2-0 after securing a bout win in Columbia’s dual against Princeton on Sunday afternoon inside Levien Gymnasium.
McGill put the Lions on the scoreboard, but Princeton prevailed on Sunday afternoon, 34-3. Columbia now sits at 3-6 overall in duals this season with an 0-2 start to the Ivy slate.
Following a top 10 victory over Penn’s No. 7 Nick Incontrera on Friday night, McGill kept the momentum going Sunday to finish the weekend on a strong note. McGill defeated Xavier Giles in a tight battle at 174 that saw McGill battle to a 2-0 decision victory. McGill capitalized on a Columbia challenge that resulted in an escape point in the second period. Moments later when action resumed, McGill added another point on an escape. McGill was able to hold off Giles through the final period to secure his second victory of the weekend.
Columbia is at home for the final time next Sunday to celebrate Senior Day as the Lions host Cornell for a 12 p.m. start. Columbia will celebrate its seven seniors as they compete in Levien Gymnasium for the final time.
