YORK, Pa. – The wrestling team from Washington and Lee University had an impressive start at the New Standard Invitational, ending Friday in second place out of 15 teams with a total of 49 points.
The Generals are just 1.5 points behind the United States Merchant Marine Academy (50.5 points) as they head into the second day of the event, which will continue Saturday at 10 a.m. at York College.
Eight Generals progressed to the championship quarterfinals, with another eight still competing in the consolation rounds. Key accomplishments were seen in several weight classes, setting W&L up for a solid presence in the team standings.
