”Sportsmanship first, right. We always gotta have that moving forward. We want to get the fundamentals down with these kids, so they’ll be fundamentally sound by the time they get to high school and college,” said Daquan Richie, Rouxgaroux wide receiver. Players and coaches were eager to help teach the players of tomorrow. Campers were put through drills working on building on the fundamentals of football.”The experience with these kids has been beautiful. They bring a lot more life to me, so coming out today was pretty much all I wanted to do,” said Anthony Lamar Dixon, Rouxgaroux defensive back. The fun for the campers doesn’t end today. The Rouxgaroux are having kids/superhero night at their next home game on March 22 against the Wheeling Miners. The campers will play a seven-on-seven flag football game during halftime. SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Many young athletes were in attendance for the Shreveport to Youth Football Camp at D1 training facility early Saturday morning (March 15).”I’m always preaching “compete” to these kids. And these kids gotta understand, yes, you can have fun. Yes, you can go out there and do your thing,” said Dixon. “But going out there and competing to the highest level and trying to win every single rep, it brings the best out of not just the kid, but the other kids that’s trying to compete with them too.” Players and coaches were eager to help teach the young players everything they know. After a hard day of working out with the Rouxgaroux, the team is hoping that campers will continue to build off the experience.
