Xenia HS to host youth basketball camp

Xenia Community Schools and Central State University have partnered to host the Marauder summer basketball camp at Phil Anderson Gymnasium at Xenia High School.

Running from Wednesday through Friday this week, the cost will be $70 for all campers. Students of Xenia schools in grades 3-9 can receive 50 percent off the cost if signing up with the discount code: Buccaneer.

The camp will take place from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each day.

Fairborn HS to host youth football camp

Alumni Field at Skyhawk Stadium will play host to two youth football camps this summer.

Those in grades 1-6 will have a camp together from 9-11 a.m. on July 7 and 8. Then another camp will be for seventh and eighth graders from 5-6:30 p.m. running from July 21-23.

FHS and Fairborn Middle School football coaching staff members, along with high school players, will help be the instructors for the camps. Activities will include position specific drills, strength and conditioning sessions, practice regarding special teams situations, and games and competitions will also be held.

Registration is $30 for all campers, and those that pre-register will received t-shirt from the event as well. The cost is $40 to sign up on the first day of either camp. Checks can be made payable to Fairborn High School Football and may be dropped off at the FHS athletic office located at the high school, or mailed to it instead.

Bellbrook coaching moves

Bellbrook has hired Eric Wagner as its new bowling head coach.

The Golden Eagles will be conducting its first season at Beaver-Vu Lanes in the upcoming Winter schedule as the eighth SWBL school to offer bowling.

Coaching positions for the boys and girls lacrosse teams also have been posted. Those interesting in applying by 3 p.m. are to email athletic director Charlie O’Dell at [email protected] with a letter of interest.

Bellbrook’s boys lacrosse team has made the state semifinals as recently as 2024. The girls team has received a high seed in the postseason tournament in the Southwest District for several consecutive years and are coming off an 11-6 campaign.

Kil-Kare events to be broadcast by GCSN

The Gem City Sports Network has announced it will be broadcasting multiple races from KilKare Speedway this season.

Upcoming dates at KilKare include the events on July 4, July 25 and August 8.

Coverage of the events begin at 7 p.m. each night. The GCSN can be heard at radio1.gemcitysports.com where a full schedule of events broadcast by the network can also be found. Select events also are streamed on the network’s YouTube channel or on Twitch.
