The money reportedly came from ticket sales and cash from various sporting events, and court documents indicate that none of it reached the school district accounts.
Courtney Walker, who served as the athletic facilitator at Moore High School, was charged with embezzlement on Friday.
The alleged incidents occurred between August 2024 and May 2025, with specific amounts listed in court documents: $7,000 from the Lady Lions Swish Club during the Mid America Youth Basketball Tournament, $13,000 from the Volleyball State Championship Tournament, $20,000 from the Game Day State Championship Tournament, $7,000 from the 6A Boys Regional Basketball Tournament, $10,000 from the 5A/6A Regional Track Meet, and $4,000 from a seven-on-seven football tournament in the spring.
A parent expressed concern on Facebook, saying, “Hearing this news about the AD you wonder how much money has been stolen from these events. Often, it’s sports parents or administrators who are collecting this cash at the window and are supposed to turn it all in ‘in good faith.'”
Another parent, involved in cheerleading, shared their frustration, stating, “I’m a cheer parent. And we worked SO HARD last year at that November event only for this money to be stolen. Our biggest fundraiser is that cheer competition and we lost the rights to host this year.”
Moore Public Schools first reported the issue on July 1.
In a statement, the district said, “Upon learning of this, MPS administration immediately filed a report with the Moore Police Department and notified the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the affected co-sponsor. MPS administration also placed her on administrative leave pending a full investigation. Ms. Walker has since resigned from her employment with MPS.”
