Hunter Mahan's Kardashian Comparison Goes Viral In Early Quote Of The Week Contender ...

We’re barely a day into the 2025 PGA Championship and we may have the quote of the week already, courtesy of a player who isn’t even teeing it up at Quail Hollow.

The Athletic’s Gabby Herzig spoke to Hunter Mahan ahead of the year’s second Major and the six-time PGA Tour winner delivered a line that quickly began to go viral on social media.

“I guess I would say Quail Hollow is like a Kardashian,” Mahan, who made over 450 PGA Tour starts before becoming a high school coach said.

“It’s very modern, beautiful and well-kept. But it lacks a soul or character.”

While the comment may well offend the Kardashians, the lack of “soul and character” line is certainly something that the PGA Championship struggles with, and a reason why some consider it to be ranked fourth out of the four men’s Majors.

While The Masters has Augusta, the US Open has the toughest test in golf mantle and The Open is the oldest and most historic golf tournament in the world, the PGA Championship has often lacked a true identity.

One of those reasons is due to the courses used, with venues regularly being long, parkland layouts that feature thick rough along the fairways and around the greens. This week’s venue Quail Hollow regularly features on the PGA Tour and looks set to be in a similar ilk to previous tests, especially after the early week rain.

The different courses also poses the question of whether the PGA is an extremely demanding test or a birdie-fest? You never really know what you’re going to get year-in, year-out.

That’s something Jon Rahm commented on ahead of this week’s action at the North Carolina venue.

“Yeah, you get different things every time you come,” he said.

“It’s very difficult to say that two of them are the same. You can have somewhere you go into a playoff at 5-under and then last year where 21-under wins it.

“A Whistling Straits, he [Jason Day] got to 20 because Jordan was 17. Jason got to 20 at Whistling Straits, which even in a Ryder Cup setup, I wouldn’t in a million years think anyone would get to 20-under there. It’s quite interesting.

“Then you have a Bethpage where you have single digits again. US Opens, for the most part, you know what you’re getting and so on. It definitely has a character of having that different character each time you come.”

While many list the PGA Championship as 4th out of four, one legend actually has The Masters in fourth-place, Gary Player.

“But, never mind the Masters, The Open is by far the greatest tournament on the planet,” Player told the Daily Mail in 2023.

“I rate The Open at one, the US Open two, PGA three and Augusta four; four marvelous tournaments.”

Wellington High athlete draws attention after flag football highlights go viral

WELLINGTON, Fla. — A Wellington flag football athlete is bringing the spotlight to Palm Beach County following a viral video with more than 2 million views on TikTok, showing her arm skills.

Ava Hanson is a starting quarterback from Wellington High School and said was a historic season for their team. She threw 62 touchdowns and over 3,900 yards.

“In Wellington High we’ve either won districts or we’ve won regionals but not in the same year,” said Hanson. “So this year we won both and we also made it to states.”

The viral video captures the moment from the state championship game and caught more attention than she expected.

“I threw a touchdown and let me tell you my teammates were jumping for joy,” said Hanson. “I was scrolling on TikTok and I saw myself and I was flabbergasted like it was the craziest thing I could’ve thought would ever happened.

Although they finished as runner-ups, Hanson says her team’s bond made all the difference.

“The camaraderie that my team has was the biggest impact on me for this whole season,” said Hanson.

Hanson will play college flag football at Hendrix College in Arkansas. Looking back Hanson adds she only began playing flag football four years ago and never imagined coming this far.

“I’m going to study psychology there. So I’m hoping to start my life there,” said Hanson. “I still don’t think I’ve comprehended it fully. I think that once I finally get there, I’ll understand it more but at this moment, I am just so surprised and so proud that I have the opportunity to do this.”

Hanson adds her hard work didn’t go unnoticed and she’s been invited to play in an all-star game at Keiser University this weekend.

“I feel pretty great. I feel like this is definitely a big part of my life now. This is something I’m never going to forget and I’m just happy to make people in my life proud,” said Hanson.

Did NBA select Bronny James as cover athlete for 2026 edition? Debunking viral post

A recent post on X went viral which stated that Bronny James, the son of four-time champion LeBron James, will be the cover athlete for NBA 2026. The post went viral with many Bronny fans speculating whether the news was legit or a rumor. Besides, James Junior had just entered the world of the NBA, being the 55th pick of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA draft, which brings to the question of why the league would have a new player as the cover athlete.

Is Bronny James the new cover athlete of NBA 2K26?

The viral post stating that Bronny James will be the cover player for NBA 2026 season was made by a parody account. It means that the news is fake and the MVP’s son won’t grace the cover page of NBA 2026 edition.

The account that posted the news was NBA Centel which sounds similar to NBA Central, the latter being a legit account known for sharing real-time news to fans. Till now, the fake news has got more than 3 million views, which raises questions as to how a fan can verify whether the news is true or not.

The said parody account has posted various such news on the social media platform, due to which many rumors spread in the past. Though NBA Centel does post some real news, it’s hard to differentiate the real ones from the fake posts.

On the other hand, Bronny was picked by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2024 which is the same team that his father, the great LeBron James, is a part of. Soon after being drafted, Bronny got the chance of being on the same court as his father, which was one of the most historical moments in the NBA. Seeing the father-duo playing together officially is something that no basketball fan had ever dreamt off.

After Lakers were eliminated from the 2025 season, questions regarding whether the MVP will continue playing were raised. Though James has not confirmed his return to the team, there are speculations regarding the matter. On the other hand, Bronny is trying his best to improve his game and get more opportunities on the court.

Former college swimmer Riley Gaines on Tuesday accepted Simone Biles’ apology after the pair got into an online disagreement over transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.

Per The Independent, Gaines has been a staunch advocate for the introduction of policies to control the involvement of transgender women in competitive female sports. Gaines embarked on that campaign in 2022 after she and former University of Pennsylvania transgender swimmer Lia Thomas both finished fifth in a 200m freestyle race.

Transgender athletes being allowed to participate in competitive women’s sports has also been a hugely debated topic that has drawn divergent sentiments, and that was what sparked the initial online disagreement between Biles and Gaines.

“I wanted to follow up from my last tweets. I’ve always believed competitive equity & inclusivity are both essential in sport. The current system doesn’t adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn’t help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for,” Biles, 28, wrote in her Tuesday post.

Biles also stated that the issues in question are “sensitive” as well as “complicated,” and she “truly” doesn’t have the “answers or solutions to, but I believe it starts with empathy and respect.”

“I was not advocating for policies that compromise fairness in women’s sports. My objection is to be singling out children for public scrutiny in ways that feel personal and harmful,” she added.

“Individual athletes—especially kids—should never be the focus of criticism of a flawed system they have no control over. I believe sports organizations have a responsibility to come up with rules supporting inclusion while maintaining fair competition. We all want a future for sport that is fair, inclusive, and respectful.”

The Olympic gold medalist’s statement on Tuesday came days after she called out Gaines, 25, when the former college swimmer responded to a post from a Minnesota high school softball team with a pitcher who is transgender.

“To be expected when your star player is a boy,” Gaines quoted on the post to highlight the comments being turned off.

But Biles took issue with her comments and also directly addressed her. “You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser,” Biles wrote. “You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”

Biles in another post also wrote, “Bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.”

Gaines also fired back. “This is actually so disappointing,” she told Biles in her response. “It’s not my job or the job of any woman to figure out how to include men in our spaces. You can uplift men stealing championships in women’s sports with YOUR platform. Men don’t belong in women’s sports and I say that with my full chest.”

Despite their initial online spat, Gaines on Tuesday accepted Biles’ apology. “I accept Simone’s apology for the personal attacks including the ones where she body-shamed me. I know she knows what this feels like. She’s still the greatest female gymnast of all time,” she wrote on Biles’ post.

Elsewhere in her long post, Gaines said that “women’s sports can’t be used as an excuse for girls to center the feelings and validation of men and boys.” She added: “I welcome you to the fight to support fair sports and a future for female athletes. Little girls deserve the same shot to achieve that you had.”
