Wallace is currently 12th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings. Failing to complete races at Texas and Kansas really hurt, but he’s hoping to turn his season around this Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. During last year’s rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600, he came in 11th place.

Only time will tell if Wallace can win the Coca-Cola 600. What we can say for certain is that he’s once again a part of the Coca-Cola Racing family.
23XI Racing revealed Thursday that Wallace is back with Coca-Cola Consolidated.
“Big news! We’re proud to welcome [Coca-Cola Consolidated] to the 23XI Racing family,” 23XI Racing announced on social media. “Whether it’s cooling down after a race or celebrating in Victory Lane, Coke is Bubba’s go-to. Here’s to more iconic moments on and off the track.”

Wallace spent years representing Dr. Pepper, so he’s no stranger to promoting Coca-Cola products.

Fans of 23XI Racing are thrilled about this reunion. Of course, some members of the NASCAR community are indifferent about it.
“With McDonalds being such a big part of 23XI, I was always surprised Coke wasn’t more involved,” one fan wrote. “Dr. Pepper made some sense back in the day because of the number, but it should have always been Coke from the beginning.”
Another fan asked, “Oh my. Are we getting a Coke car??????”
“A Sprite car would be hot I’m just saying,” a third fan suggested.
“Terrible decision by Coca-Cola,” a social media user said.

Maybe we’ll see Wallace on Victory Lane with a Coca-Cola in his hands.
The Coca-Cola 600 will begin at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday. The purse for this year’s race will be over $13.6 million.
Zilisch outduels Love en route to first career oval Xfinity win at Pocono

In a day of varying strategies and dramatic restarts among the front runners, JR Motorsports rookie Connor Zilisch prevailed in a late race sprint to the checkered flag in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Explore the Pocono Mountains 250 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway – the first oval win of this young talent’s career.
Late race restarts determined the day and ultimately it came down to a duel between Zilisch and his best friend, last year’s Rookie of the Year, Jesse Love. Zilisch pulled his No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet alongside Love’s car as they crossed the start/finish line with four laps to go and then he took the lead for good with three laps remaining – 0.437s ahead of the field.
It was that kind of resolute day for the 18-year-old Zilisch, who had some key help in his headset from a first-time crew chief. His team owner, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr., filled in for the team’s full-time leader Mardy Lindley, who was serving a one-race suspension.
The two-time Daytona 500 winner Earnhardt, an icon in the sport, not only called the race from atop Zilisch’s pit box, but climbed down and helped out on pit stops too. He was absolutely ecstatic after the race in his debut calling the shots. He’s the fifth crew chief this season to earn his first Xfinity Series victory.
“Just a great job putting us in position to succeed, we had a lot of things go our way, a lot of good luck, good race strategy, had a little help from [his former NASCAR Cup Series crew chief Steve] Letarte,” a grinning Earnhardt said, applauding Lindley’s preparation for the weekend.
“Hat’s off to everybody on this team,” he continued. “It’s been amazing all weekend long. Great race car driver. Connor Zilisch is going to be a big deal in this sport for a long time. A lot of fun for me today.”
Zilisch was similarly exuberant, having to really work hard for this win, his second of the season. Ten caution flags on the afternoon created varying strategies and a real test of restart skills.
“I’ve been dying for this one for a while now; I’ve been so close on the ovals lately,” Zilisch said. “I finished second at Charlotte, second at Nashville.
“Dale Junior, not too bad on the box,” he said smiling, saying he appreciated Earnhardt’s advice throughout the race. “Pretty cool to have him up there. Thank you so much to the entire JR Motorsports team … this one is definitely special. I’ve been chasing an oval win for a while now.”
For much of the day, Zilisch’s greatest challenge up front came from former NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott, who is competing in both the Xfinity and Cup Series races this weekend. Elliott led the most laps – 38 of the 100 compared to Zilisch’s 34 out front.
Elliott and the series’ current championship leader, JR Motorsports Justin Allgaier were up front on a restart with 13 laps remaining. While contending for the lead, they nearly came together and had to take evasive action up the track not to collide.
Love took advantage of the situation and came through from the second row to stake claim to the race lead in the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. A caution came out almost immediately after Love moved to the front and that allowed Zilisch to start directly behind him on that final restart – leaving the trophy up to the two friends to decide.
“That’s the most focused I’ve ever been inside a race car. I did not want Connor to beat me because I’ll have to hear about it for a long time,” said Love, with a smile. “Hats off to him. He ran a good race. Once I was able to get a draft I was able to get back to him, but that bums me out, I’m not going to lie. I’m still trying to be grateful we have fast race cars and are in position to win. Hats off to Connor.”
Another rookie rounded out the top three with Kaulig Racing’s Christian Eckes claiming a career best third-place finish in the No. 16 Chevrolet. Elliott rallied to finish fourth and Ryan Seig was fifth in his family-owned Ford.
Carson Kvapil, Sam Mayer, Sammy Smith, rookie Taylor Gray and Justin Allgaier rounded out the top 10.
The reigning series champion Allgaier now holds an 82-point championship advantage on RCR’s Austin Hill, who was collected in an early-race accident and finished 35th.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series moves to Atlanta for Friday night’s Focused Health 250 at EchoPark Speedway (7:30 p.m. ET on the CW, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). Hill has won the last three Atlanta races – the most recent this February.

Another week, and we are facing rain on race day once again. The Pocono NASCAR Cup Series race is currently on a delay. Last week in Mexico City, it didn’t matter much thanks to wet-weather tires and all of that. At Pocono, that’s not an option.
Today’s race was set to fire engines around 2:20 PM ET. So, we are clearly looking at a delay past that time. How much past that time? That remains to be seen. NASCAR is going to keep drying the track and working to get it ready for the race.
Unfortunately, no lights at Pocono Raceway for NASCAR. So, this race needs to start no later than 5:00 PM ET if we want to see all 400 miles.
NASCAR has announced a start time of 4:30 PM ET for today’s race. At that point, sunset could play a factor at around 8:30 PM ET if there are further delays. Whether that comes via more rain, lightning, or an unusual number of caution flags.
Driver intros and pre-race ceremonies will still happen. Engines will be fired at 4:19 PM ET.
A race is official when it reaches the halfway point or the end of Stage 2. Whichever happens first. 160 laps, laps in this race, so the halfway point will be prior to the end of Stage 2. Stages are set for 30 laps, 65 laps, and 65 laps. So, lap 80 is where this NASCAR race at Pocono becomes officially official, no matter what happens afterward.
The Tricky Triangle is tricky for many reasons. Three unique corners on the track, the high speeds, and the weather. If it isn’t rain, it’s fog. This track is known for its wacky weather and configuration. Both of those factors will have an effect on today’s race.
NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono delayed
This race takes about three hours to run. That is with a normal amount of caution flags. However, last night’s Xfinity Series race had a record number of yellow flags. Could that be the case today in the Cup Series race?
NASCAR has a long and proud history at Pocono. There have been so many iconic moments, finishes, wrecks, and wins. You think of Denny Hamlin sweeping the two races in 2006 as a rookie. Ryan Blaney’s first Cup Series win with Wood Brothers Racing in 2017. Kyle Larson vs. Hamlin a few years ago gave us a very recent iconic moment.
It was Blaney last year at Pocono in a dominant performance. He led the most laps and earned his second win of the season for 2024. He picked up a win at Nashville earlier this season, and that speed from Music City should show up again at Pocono this weekend.
Today’s NASCAR race at Pocono is going to happen. We are just going to have a very tight window to get it all in later today. 4:30 PM ET start time, tune into Prime Video to catch all of the action at the Tricky Triangle.
Denny Hamlin earns Pocono pole as William Byron wrecks in wild qualifying session
Denny Hamlin missed the race in Mexico City, but it didn’t seem to impact him as the NASCAR Cup Series rolled into Pocono. With a record seven wins at the 2.5-mile track, it was obvious that the No. 11 Toyota would be fast again, and in qualifying, no one could match his pace. He went […]
He went to the top of the charts in his fifth pole position at Pocono but his first of the 2025 season.
“Obviously, because I was a little more rested than the field right there, I was able to get a little more speed,” joked Hamlin.
“I mean, I love all of them,” added Hamlin when asked about Pocono being one of his favorite tracks. “Every week, we have a great shot to win and this team just knows what I need out of the car. And with all the cars and tires and everything that has changed over time, you still make speed at this track the same way. I was able to execute it there in qualifying and that’s a good start for us.”

Joining Hamlin on the front row will be RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher, who ended the session 0.083s behind Hamlin’s fast lap. Buescher’s first career Cup win came at Pocono back in 2016. Carson Hocevar qualified third, John-Hunter Nemechek fourth, and Cole Custer fifth in some really impressive runs for both the Legacy Motor Club and Haas Factory Team.

Chase Briscoe, Ty Gibbs, Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell, and Daniel Suarez filled out the remainder of the top ten.
Qualifying trouble
Watch: William Byron hits inside wall hard during qualifying at Pocono
Four drivers didn’t even set a qualifying time. As a result of inspection issues, Brennan Poole’s team was not allowed to take part while Cody Ware crashed in practice and was unable to do so. Josh Berry’s Wood Brothers No. 21 suffered a broken rear diffuser in the practice, which the team was busy repairing.
And then there was Bubba Wallace, whose No. 23 Toyota would not start when it was his time to go. 23XI Racing tried to push start it but to no avail, and he was visibly frustrated inside the car. A.J. Allmendinger and Todd Gilliland were the two slowest drivers on track, partly because they abandoned their laps after sketchy moments.
But the biggest moment came near the end of qualifying. William Byron wasn’t going to challenge for pole, but he was likely going to be inside the top 10 when he lost control through the Tunnel Turn, spinning out and slamming the inside wall. After posting the fastest time in practice, the team will now have to make extensive repairs as they’ve chosen not to go to a backup car.
Byron’s HMS teammate Chase Elliott was on track at the same time and the incident ruined his lap. Luckily, NASCAR allowed him to put on a fresh set of tires and Elliott was allowed to go back out, but that was only good enough for 18th. Shockingly, he was the highest-qualifying Hendrick Motorsports driver. Kyle Larson qualified 24th and Alex Bowman was 25th.
As for Mexico City winner Shane van Gisbergen, he ended up 23rd, matching his best qualifying effort of the season on an oval.

The NASCAR Cup Series ran a single practice session at Pocono Raceway on Saturday afternoon in preparation for the upcoming The Great American Getaway 400 on Sunday afternoon.
The 37-car field was split in to two groups for practice, with each group getting 25 minutes on track.
Below you will find the two groups, key notes from the practice session, as well as the practice speeds for all drivers.
Important Practice Notes
Josh Berry – The rear diffuser on Josh Berry’s No. 21 Ford broke during practice, and the Wood Brothers Racing team had to replace it on Saturday afternoon. Berry will not able to make a qualifying lap this weekend.
Christopher Bell – The No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team quickly realized after their session started that the car had no power steering. They seemed to get it fixed and were able to get on track and complete some laps.
Cody Ware – During the first group’s session, Cody Ware spun out his No. 51 Ford in turn three and backed it into the wall. The Rick Ware Racing team will have to repair the car and will not attempt to qualify.
Brennan Poole – The No. 44 NY Racing team is in the field this week with Brennan Poole behind the wheel. The car failed inspection three times on Saturday, which means Poole will have to deal with several penalties, including not being able to make a qualifying lap.
Tough time in inspection for Brennan Poole’s No. 44 car today.
The car failed three times before passing on its fourth attempt, which resulted in the following penalties:
— Not allowed to qualify — Pass-through penalty after taking the green flag tomorrow — Car chief ejected…

Dale Earnhardt Jr. fills in as crew chief for Xfinity win at Pocono

LONG POND, Pa. — Dale Earnhardt Jr. might already be NASCAR’s most popular crew chief.
He’s certainly undefeated in that role.
Pressed into unexpected service, Earnhardt called the shots for 18-year-old driver Connor Zilisch in the JR Motorsports No. 88 Chevrolet on Saturday at Pocono Raceway, where they ended up in victory lane after winning a race in NASCAR’s second-tier Xfinity Series.
“It felt good to have some input and decision-making power,” Earnhardt said. “And then helping Connor understand what our plan was so he knew when to push and what he was expected to do.”
Earnhardt — a NASCAR Hall of Famer who was voted the most popular Cup Series driver by fans 15 times from 2003-17 — made a pit stop from his day job as team owner at JR Motorsports with normal crew chief Mardy Lindley suspended one race because of a lug nut infraction earlier this month at Nashville Superspeedway.
Aside from his duties as team owner, Earnhardt also was at Pocono for his role on Amazon Prime Video’s telecast of Sunday’s top-tier Cup Series race. Earnhardt retired as a full-time Cup Series driver after the 2017 season but has raced occasionally in the Xfinity Series for his own team, most recently last September at Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway.
“Lot of fun for me today,” Earnhardt said. “I missed the thrill of competition. I love broadcast, don’t get me wrong. But nothing compares to driving or just being part of the team. Being an owner doesn’t really deliver like this. This is a lot of fun.”
Earnhardt had his wife Amy and their two young daughters in tow with him as he made the celebratory walk to victory lane. Oldest daughter Isla Rose clutched the checkered flag while youngest Nicole Lorraine soaked in the scene from her dad’s arms.
“I love that they just get to experience things about NASCAR,” Earnhardt said. “I had such a great time growing up as a kid in this sport, just running around here. I want them to have that opportunity and understand that this is a place where they could create opportunities for themselves down the road.”
Earnhardt’s 26 career wins in the Cup Series included a sweep of both Pocono races in 2014, a season he started by winning the Daytona 500 for the second time.
Saturday’s success continued a banner season for Earnhardt after JR Motorsports and reigning Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier qualified for the season-opening Daytona 500 to make their Cup Series debut.
Earnhardt’s side hustle Saturday was made a bit easier with Zilisch behind the wheel. Zilisch, who turns 19 in July, raced to his second Xfinity Series victory of the season and the third of his career. He won his debut last year on the permanent road course at New York’s Watkins Glen International.
Earnhardt even pitched in during the race and tossed tires over the wall during pit stops.
“Midway through the race, man, I was feeling it,” Earnhardt said.
Zilisch took the win down to the wire and finally passed Jesse Love with five laps left in the race. Love finished second in the No. 2 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing — the same organization for which his late father won six of his record-tying seven Cup Series championships and the 1998 Daytona 500.
“Dale Jr., not too bad on the box,” Zilisch said. “Pretty cool to have him up there. Getting him a 1-for-1 win as crew chief is pretty awesome.”
Even with the victory, it just might be one-and-done on the pit box for the boss.
Said Earnhardt: “I don’t know that I see myself doing it again.”

The NASCAR Cup Series enters the summer with a 10-race sprint to the playoffs, starting with The Great American Getaway 400 on June 22 at Pocono Raceway.
Denny Hamlin earned the pole in Saturday’s qualifying session, which is bad news for the rest of the field. Hamlin has seven Cup wins at Pocono, the most all-time.
William Byron and Bubba Wallace will start outside the top 30 after separate issues during qualifying. Byron crashed off of the tunnel turn on his lap, though his team will attempt to repair the car before the green flag on Sunday. Wallace could not get his car to crank up and did not make a run in qualifying. Byron’s issue may impact the regular-season championship chase, while Wallace enters the weekend 57 points ahead of the playoff cutoff.
