GENEVA, Ohio – Gustavus senior Megan Geraets (Mankato, Minn.) ended her collegiate career with her preliminary race in the 400-meter on the second day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships held on Friday, May 23, at the SPIRE Institute.

Geraets, the top seed in the event, just missed the cut for finals (winner of each of the three heats plus the next best six times). She finished fourth in her heat with a time of 55.54, good for 11th overall. The final qualifying time was 55.30, achieved by MIT’s Marina Miller, who was seeded seventh and finished just ahead of the Mankato native in heat one. 

MIAC competitors Ariella Rogahn-Press (Macalester) and Shalom Sulungaine (Bethel), who finished second and third behind Geraets at the MIAC Championships on May 10, each finished first in heats two and three, respectively. Rogahn-Press led the qualifiers with a 53.88. Geraets earned the top seed heading into the meet with a 53.87.

Her 11th-place finish helped her achieve her eighth All-America honor and second of the weekend, as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) added the All-America second team in 2024 to include individuals placed ninth through 16th, as well as members of ninth- and 10th-place relays.

“Megan ends her career as one of the most decorated athletes in school and conference history,” said head coach Aaron Lund. “It takes record breaking performances just to get here now, and all of the competition is really tough. She had great effort and execution of her race in another cold and windy day. Just barely missing out on finals again is a tough way to end it. 

“I am so proud of her and everything she has accomplished. Megan has elevated our program in so many ways and has inspired her teammates to work even harder and set their goals higher. We are all so proud of the amazing woman she has become.”

In her career, Geraets was an eight-time All-American (one first team, seven second) and a 15-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection between the indoor and outdoor seasons. She was the 2025 MIAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, just the third Gustie to receive the honor, and was nine times named a MIAC Athlete of the Week between field and track events, including six this season. She earned her and the program’s first USTFCCCA Division III National Athlete of the Week in the outdoor season on May 12, and collected 15 MIAC event championships in her career.

 

MARION, Ind.– The NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University, concluded Friday evening.

Three University of Jamestown track and field athletes competed at the three day event, beginning with Dawson Sedivec in the hammer throw on Wednesday.

Sedivec placed 10th out of 22 throwers in the event. After scratching on his first attempt, Sedivec came back with marks of 57.32 meters (188 feet, 1 inch) and 57.39 meters (188 feet, 3 inches).

On Thursday, Ashton Judge competed in the long jump. Judge finished 15th of 21 jumpers, with a top mark of 7.09 meters on his final attempt after jumps of 6.85 meters and 6.72 meters.

Paige Erhardt competed in the high jump Friday afternoon. Unfortunately for Erhardt, she was unable to clear the opening height of 1.61 meters.

Sedivec made his second trip to outdoor nationals while Judge and Erhardt qualified for the first time this season.

The event brought together stakeholders from around the world to discuss and exchange knowledge on effective drowning prevention initiatives, including World Aquatics’ Discover Water programme, which takes a collaborative approach by working with Member Federations to deliver interventions.

There was an introduction from the World Health Organization which emphasised the importance of drowning prevention, highlighting some of the key findings of the first-ever Global Status Report on Drowning Prevention, released in December 2024.

The report found there were more than 300,000 fatalities from drowning in 2021, predominantly impacting children and young people, and low and middle-income countries.

Representatives from Bangladesh and Ireland, whose governments championed UN General Assembly and World Health Assembly resolutions on drowning prevention, also attended and shared their insights.

World Aquatics Director of Development and Athlete Services Morgane Gaultier attended the event and expressed the organisation’s commitment to playing its part in promoting water safety around the world.

“This was a valuable opportunity to connect with stakeholders from around the world who share World Aquatics’ belief that all young children should be equipped with the physical literacy skills to reduce the risk of drowning and enable them safely enjoy aquatics sports,” Gaultier said.

“Despite progress that has been made, it is clear from the Global Status Report there is still much work to be done on drowning prevention.

The Discover Water programme was launched ahead of the Olympic Games in Paris on 25 July 2024, coinciding with World Drowning Prevention Day. It offers a range of educational tools to enable young children from around the world to safely embrace aquatics sports and learn vital skills in an engaging manner.

World Aquatics recently held a highly successful training course for Discover Water Country Leads across Africa in Malawi, with three-time open water swimming world champion Leonie Beck joining representatives from 15 countries.

World Drowning Prevention Day on 25 July was established by the United Nations in 2021, and this year’s event falls during the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, where a series of activities will be organised by World Aquatics to mark the occasion.

Another week has come and gone and we’re still awaiting the reveal of EA Sports College Football 26. EA promised to lift the curtain on this year’s college football game this month, and it looks like they are waiting until the last possible moment. 

We’re still not exactly sure what the reveal for EA Sports College Football 26 will entail, but we can almost guarantee it will include the official cover unveiling. Just a few months ago, behind the scenes photos from the cover shoot were leaked online, seemingly confirming that the covers of this year’s game will feature a combination of football stars — both past and present — as well as head coaches.

Sources confirmed that Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood, Florida quarterback DJ Lagway, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams, Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt and South Carolina EDGE Dylan Stewart were among the athletes present for the cover photo shoot. There were also reports that the cover will feature head coaches, including Ohio State’s Ryan Day, Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Penn State’s James Franklin, Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin, Oregon’s Dan Lanning and Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham.

In addition to current players and coaches, former players such as Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow were in attendance, suggesting they could be on a version of the cover as well.

EA Sports College Football 26 is already available for pre-order with three Editions confirmed: the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and MVP Edition. All three versions have placeholder cover art for now, but we now have a better indication of what will be seen. 

Over on Instagram, Christopher “Florida Gator Man” Hobby (@christopher_hobbzilla) has been sharing leaked behind the scenes photos from the EA Sports College Football 26 cover shooter. The first image features the trio of (from left to right) Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams, Florida quarterback DJ Lagway,  Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Lasty year’s game also featured three prominent college athletes — Quinn Ewers (Texas), Travis Hunter (Colorado), and Donovan Edwards (Michigan) — so it’s not unreasonable to expect EA will follow with a similar design this year. That would mean the leaked cover with all of the players and coaches could serve as the Deluxe Edition. A second photo shows Lagway posin with former Gators quarterback and Heisman winner Tim Tebow, though this doesn’t look like a specific cover photo, just more of a behind the scenes shot.

With the official reveal of EA Sports College Football 26 presumably just days away, anticipation is building. Aside from the photos, there haven’t been a ton of leaks regarding the game, so we’re eager to get official details from EA in terms of new features, modes, and improvements.

EA Sports College Football 26 is scheduled to launch on Xbox and PlayStation on July 10th with a 3-day Early Acess period beginning July 7th for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game, which is only available for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
