Mooresville, NC (May 19, 2025) NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Driver, Spencer Boyd announced today that Canal Coffee Co.™ has joined the team as a primary sponsor for the Memorial Day Weekend race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Founded in 2023, Canal Coffee Co. is a family-owned, drive-thru coffee shop serving specialty drinks, hot breakfast, baked goods, and lunch.

“The words ‘coffee’ and ‘drive-thru’ are my love language,” laughed an early rising Spencer Boyd. “In our sport with early mornings and late nights, we are honestly fueled by two things, coffee and race fuel. The fact that I can drive through for my morning routine makes the moment I arrive at the shop that much more productive. This sponsorship launches at a great time given Canal Coffee’s commitment to the military and first responder community and the NASCAR Salutes campaign. I’m looking forward to all the fun things we will do together!”

Every day, Canal Coffee proudly offers a 10% discount to all active or retired firefighters, police, EMS, and military personnel at all locations, as a small way to thank them for their service.

Salina Millen, Regional Director for Community Relations commented, “As a small, family-owned business, we’re passionate about giving back to the communities that support us. Through our “Coffee that Cares” initiative, we partner with local schools, first responders, and nonprofit organizations to make a meaningful difference. To have our very own race truck racing on one of NASCAR’s crown jewel weekends is a great way to let people know about us as a company.”

Canal Coffee will be serving from their mobile coffee truck all race weekend long near Bruton Smith Blvd and Sandusky Blvd. Known for its small-batch coffees from artisan roasters, Canal Coffee Co.’s baristas are ready to serve hot or cold specialty drinks – Including Freedom Fuel, the Lotus-based drink created specifically for Spencer’s team and fans.

“We always get excited about this race,” continued Boyd. “It’s the home track for many of us. We honor our military. There is just a lot of buzz around it. As a race track, I love Charlotte Motor Speedway because of the character the surface has and the racing it produces. Our Freedom Racing Enterprises team has assembled a great piece for the No. 76 Canal Coffee Chevrolet Silverado to make it’s debut!”
Catch Spencer Boyd driving the Canal Coffee race truck at the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race, the North Carolina Education Lottery 200, on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 8:30 PM ET. This exciting race, part of the Coca-Cola 600 weekend, will be broadcast live on FS1.

Legacy Motor Club sues broker for alleged interference in charter deal

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Legacy Motor Club on Wednesday sued the broker who helped negotiate its purchase of a charter from Rick Ware Racing, accusing him of tortious interference for now trying to buy Ware’s NASCAR team.

Legacy alleged in its filing in North Carolina Superior Court that T.J. Puchyr, acting as a consultant for the Cup Series team owned by seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, violated the state Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act by using “insider knowledge and position of trust to interfere with Legacy’s Agreement with RWR.”

Legacy also accused Puchyr of making public personal attacks against Johnson when he announced last month his plans to purchase Ware’s tiny race team.

The dispute began not long after Legacy entered into an agreement for Johnson and his partners at Knighthead Capital Management to purchase one of Ware’s two charters. Legacy says the deal is for next season, when it plans to expand to three full-time Cup cars.

RWR maintains the deal was for 2027 because it already is under contract with RFK Racing to lease that organization a charter next season. Ware says he didn’t read the contract closely when he signed it to note that it read 2026, and that honoring the RFK contract and selling a second charter to Legacy next year would put the NASCAR team out of business.

Legacy in April sued Ware, but as that fight is playing out, it claims Puchyr struck a deal to buy RWR. Puchyr is a co-founder of Spire Motorsports and now acts as a motorsports consultant.

“Mr. Puchyr was well aware of the parties’ dispute. He knew of the charter purchase agreement between Legacy and RWR that he helped broker,” the suit contends. “Despite Mr. Puchyr’s insider knowledge of the contract, his obligations under his consulting agreement with Legacy, Legacy’s contractual right to a charter … Mr. Puchyr recently announced that he intends to purchase both of RWR’s charters for himself.”

The latest filing is part of two active lawsuits surrounding charters, which are at the heart of NASCAR’s business model. Having one is vital to a team’s survival.

23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports are locked in a prolonged suit with NASCAR over antitrust allegations against the most popular motorsports series in the United States. 23XI, co-owned by retired NBA great Michael Jordan, and Front Row, owned by entrepreneur Bob Jenkins, last September refused to sign the charter agreements offered by NASCAR after more than two years of contentious negotiations on extensions.

The two were the only holdouts out of 15 organizations to refuse the extensions. They instead sued and are awaiting a federal judge’s decision on whether they will be stripped of their six combined charters as the case heads toward a Dec. 1 trial date.

NASCAR has said it has asked multiple times for settlement proposals but heard nothing. NASCAR also has no intention of renegotiating the charter agreements held by 30 other teams.

Johnson, despite his own legal fight, said last weekend that he supported a settlement in the antitrust case.

“I would love to see a settlement of some kind,” Johnson said. “I really don’t think that getting into a knock-down, drag-out lawsuit is good for anybody.”

NASCAR Veteran Kenny Wallace Reveals Brother Rusty’s No-Nonsense Advice That Put Him in Check

Kenny Wallace recently credited his legendary brother Rusty Wallace with delivering career-altering wisdom during a vulnerable moment. The NASCAR veteran recently spotlighted Rusty’s unfiltered approach to silencing negativity, linking it to country star Travis Tritt’s revelation about overcoming public criticism.

Wallace’s social media reflection exposed a deeper brotherly dynamic forged through decades of racing highs and fan scrutiny. It highlighted how Rusty’s championship-tested pragmatism became Kenny’s anchor in turbulent times.

Rusty Wallace’s Unfiltered Truth Boosted Kenny Wallace’s Motivation

Kenny recounted the pivotal exchange after resharing Tritt’s podcast clip about Waylon Jennings’ guidance. Jennings had told Tritt to ignore haters if his records sold well and concerts were sold out. “That’s all that matters. You must be doing something right if those people are coming in. So to hell with all those people, ignore them,” Tritt recalled Jennings’ advice.

Kenny recalled Rusty’s version of that philosophy during his own career crisis. “😁 I was telling brother @RustyWallace once that someone hurt my feelings. Rusty looked me in the face and said. ‘Do they pay you?’” Kenny wrote on X. The rhetorical question sliced through emotional noise, refocusing him on measurable success. His caption added humorously: “LOL 😂😂. Straighten me out real quick 💯🕺🏁.”

The advice became foundational. Kenny now champions its universal application for athletes facing external noise. Rusty’s no-nonsense style mirrored his track reputation, earned through 55 Cup Series wins and a 1989 championship. His credentials lent weight to every word.

The Wallace Brotherhood Forged in NASCAR Racing

The moment reflected their complex relationship. Kenny recently defended Rusty against the “crybaby” nickname some 1990s fans used, clarifying that Dale Earnhardt Sr. actually dubbed him “rubber head” after a fierce collision. Kenny emphasized Rusty’s Hall of Fame legacy while dismissing the label.

“RUSTY was never named that. His nickname was rubber head 😁 and he won a lot and he’s a @NASCAR champion and a Hall of Famer,” Kenny wrote on X, defending his brother.

Their dynamic evolved with NASCAR’s landscape. Kenny revealed earlier this year how Rusty and Kenny Schrader initially mocked his social media focus.

“Brother Rusty, Kenny Schrader, they used to pillage me. They made fun of me. ‘Herman, all over that damn social media? Herman, what are you doing on that social media?’ That’s what they used to say to me,” he recalled on his “Coffee with Kenny” podcast.

That skepticism reversed when sponsors prioritized digital reach. “For the most part, they [sponsors] like the social media. It is the new TV. It is the new media,” Kenny stated. His once-derided strategy became visionary, proving Rusty’s core lesson — validation comes from results, not opinions.

Kenny had recently faced fan scrutiny for defending NASCAR and its decisions. Fans had been calling him a “NASCAR shill,” accusing him of being paid by NASCAR. Now we know how he copes amid all these backlashes.

Kenny now wields that wisdom when defending his brother’s legacy. “Guess who’s the king now? I am,” he declared, referencing his social media influence. Rusty’s advice remains timeless, ignoring unpaid critics and focusing on tangible success. As NASCAR’s sponsorship model evolves, Kenny’s experience epitomizes how thick skin and adaptability define longevity.

The NASCAR Cup Series season is heating up, and drivers all around the order are looking to punch their tickets to the playoffs. Road course expert Shane van Gisbergen has won the last two races at Chicago and Sonoma, but unfortunately all attendees of the most recent race were not able to leave unscathed.

During a caution with 13 laps to go last Sunday, Spire Motorsports driver Justin Haley inadvertently ran into a rabbit, killing it.

“Oh God, I just hit a bunny,” Haley said on the radio while finishing his lap in the car.

“I can’t believe I killed a bunny. Oh, I feel horrible. He was running so fast.”

The rabbit is unfortunately the third animal to die on the track in NASCAR this season, coming after two other incidents earlier in the year.

Josh Berry hit a bird in Talladega back in April, smashing into the animal as he approached the start-finish line. In June, Ty Dillon hit a squirrel as he attempted to pit at Michigan.

“I think I just murdered a squirrel getting into my damn pit box,” Dillon said, prompting a scream heard over the radio from one of his Kaulig Racing team members.

The Cup Series will be back in familiar territory for its next race after multiple weeks of road courses. Ovals are back on the menu at Dover this weekend, and both the Xfinity and Cup Series will be in action.

The Xfinity Series will take center stage on Saturday afternoon for the BetRivers 200. Justin Allgaier enters as the series leader, with a 59 point advantage over Sam Mayer. Other notable names near the top of the standings include Austin Hill and Connor Zilisch.

The Cup Series will close out the weekend on Sunday with the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400. A trio of Hendrick Motorsports drivers leads the standings – William Byron, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson – with the Toyotas of Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin in behind.

Four playoff spots remain, and Reddick is the highest-ranking driver without a win this season. We’ll see if he can punch his ticket into the Round of 16 this fall with a victory at Dover.

Hopefully, no animals will be killed in the process.

Insights

SEGG’s strategic investment in Veloce creates significant growth opportunity in esports and motorsports media with clear path to majority ownership.

SEGG Media’s investment in Veloce Media Group represents a calculated strategic move into the high-growth digital sports entertainment sector. The deal values Veloce at £40 million ($53 million) pre-money, with a structured acquisition path allowing SEGG to eventually secure 51% majority ownership through a call option.

Veloce brings impressive metrics to this partnership—750 million monthly digital views and £12.8 million ($17.5 million) in annual revenue for FY2025. This provides SEGG immediate exposure to a highly engaged Gen-Z and millennial audience through Veloce’s racing and gaming network. The recent acquisition of Quadrant, co-founded with F1 driver Lando Norris, further enhances Veloce’s market position.

The transaction structure is particularly noteworthy—SEGG has committed £2 million ($2.6 million) in the first tranche, with the remainder scheduled by July’s end. This staged approach minimizes immediate capital requirements while securing the strategic relationship.

This investment aligns with SEGG’s broader post-turnaround strategy focusing on motorsport and soccer as cornerstone verticals. The deal provides SEGG multiple monetization avenues through competitive esports, athlete-led content platforms, racing initiatives, and merchandise—all with significant digital engagement potential.

The Saudi connection through Sports.com President Majed Al Sorour (former Newcastle United director and LIV Golf CEO) offers potential expansion pathways into the Middle East’s rapidly growing gaming market, where 70% of Saudi Arabia’s population engages with gaming content.

This acquisition signals SEGG Media’s strategic pivot toward high-engagement digital sports content after successfully turning around Lottery.com. The investment into Veloce Media Group provides SEGG immediate access to a massive digital audience—750 million monthly views—with particular strength among younger demographics that traditional media struggles to reach.

Veloce’s diverse operational portfolio is particularly valuable. Beyond just audience numbers, they’ve built integrated capabilities across competitive esports (including official partnerships with major brands like Ferrari), content creation, sustainable racing initiatives, and merchandise—creating multiple revenue streams from a single engaged audience.

The valuation metrics deserve attention. At £40 million ($53 million) pre-money against £12.8 million in annual revenue, the deal values Veloce at approximately 3.1x revenue—relatively reasonable for a high-growth digital media property with established audience and monetization channels. The structured acquisition approach with an option for 51% ownership protects SEGG while maintaining clear control possibilities.

Perhaps most significant is the strategic alignment with Saudi Arabia’s emerging position in global esports. With over 23 million gamers and major international events like the Esports World Cup, this positions SEGG to capitalize on one of the fastest-growing entertainment markets globally—particularly important as Saudi Arabia continues aggressive investment in sports and entertainment sectors as part of its economic diversification strategy.

The Quadrant acquisition by Veloce adds significant value by bringing F1 star Lando Norris’s brand and audience into the portfolio, creating immediate opportunities for high-value content and sponsorship deals across both traditional motorsport and digital platforms.

SEGG Media and Veloce: SEGG Media makes strategic investment in Veloce

A Media Snippet accompanying this announcement is available by clicking on this link.

FORT WORTH, Texas, July 16, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — SEGG Media Corporation, formerly Lottery.com Inc., (NASDAQ: SEGG, LTRYW) (“SEGG Media” or the “Company”), a leading technology company transforming the global intersection of sports, entertainment and gaming today announced a strategic investment into Veloce Media Group (“Veloce”), one of the fastest-scaling digital platforms operating at the intersection of sport, gaming, and content. The partnership will be managed by Sports.com, a division of SEGG Media.

The investment forms part of a broader buy-and-build strategy to position SEGG Media as the home of immersive sports and next-generation media. The transaction, which values Veloce at £40 million ($53 million USD) pre-money, will be completed in two tranches, with a call option enabling SEGG to reach majority ownership at 51%.

This move reinforces SEGG Media’s recent launch and the turnaround success of Lottery.com. It signals a new phase of high-growth strategic acquisitions centered around profitability, scale, and exciting global fan engagement.

A Cash-Generating, High-Growth Digital Asset

Veloce Media Group has built the world’s largest racing and gaming media network with more than 750 million monthly digital views and reaching a rapidly growing Gen-Z and millennial audience. In its most recent fiscal year ended March 2025, Veloce reported £12.8 million ($17.5 million USD) in revenue. Veloce has strong forward momentum following July 2025 acquisition of Quadrant, a disruptive motorsport content and lifestyle brand co-founded with Formula 1 driver Lando Norris.

The Veloce Group operates across:

  • Competitive esports and sim racing (F1 Esports, Ferrari Global Series)
  • Immersive content and athlete-led platforms
  • Sustainable racing initiatives including FIA Extreme H World Cup
  • Creator-led brands, merchandise, and digital fan engagement

The investment from the Company is funding key strategic initiatives, including Veloce’s acquisition of Quadrant, with £2 million ($2.6 million USD) committed in the first tranche. The remainder is scheduled for completion by end of July 2025.

Matthew McGahan, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of SEGG Media

“Since completing the turnaround of the Company, we identified two global sports verticals, motorsport and soccer, as cornerstones of our future strategy. This investment into Veloce is yet another tangible step into motorsport following the successful multi-race partnerships we secured with three rising stars in IndyCar and Indy NXT.

With Veloce now in the family, we’re doubling down. We see this as a continuation of our expansion into motorsports, a sector that offers scale, global fanbases, commercial viability, and media storytelling potential across all levels of competition. From F1, IndyCar, MotoGP, to NASCAR and beyond, SEGG Media is positioning the Sports.com brand not just via sponsorship, but through content creation, team partnerships and immersive behind-the-scenes access.

“Our internal production arm, Sports.com Studios, is already developing original content formats that tap into this world and, now, with the energy and expertise of Veloce’s young leadership, we’re excited to explore that frontier together.”

Jack Clarke, Chief Strategy Officer of Veloce Media Group

“Veloce Media Group is uniquely positioned to engage a generation of digitally native sports fans. With SEGG Media’s support, we are well placed to scale our media and competitive operations while continuing to innovate.”

Majed Al Sorour, President of Sports.com, a division of SEGG Media (former Main Board Director of Newcastle United Football Club and CEO of LIV Golf)
