A former chief executive officer of Richard Petty Motorsports has been named the new CEO of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation in High Point.
Brian Moffitt will begin his new position on May 27, succeeding Karen McNeill Pond, who will retire as CEO but will continue as chairwoman of the foundation’s board of directors.
The announcement was made Friday, the day before the official opening of the spring High Point Market.
Moffitt has been CEO of Petty’s Garage since 2008, served as CEO of Richard Petty Motorsports for 12 years and previously was involved in multiple Petty family businesses. He led business operations including budgetary oversight, marketing and brand positioning, racing team leadership, negotiation and contract management, sponsorship acquisitions and strategic partnership development.
During his time with Petty, Moffitt secured more than $250 million in sponsorship revenues through partnering with national brands such as Best Buy, Smithfield and STP.
Moffitt grew up in the area working summers at a retail furniture store and in showrooms getting ready for Market, Pond said.
“This has fostered a deep appreciation for the industry and of the importance of High Point on the world stage of home furnishings,” she said. “Coming from an intensely competitive industry, Brian brings a winning combination of nationwide fundraising, energy and a fresh vision for the Hall of Fame.”
The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation is an organization founded to preserve home furniture industry history and celebrate individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the industry.
