TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A Florida State University food service employee was one of the two people killed Thursday in a mass shooting on campus, their employer confirmed to News4JAX on Friday.

“We are heartbroken to confirm that an Aramark employee was among those killed at FSU yesterday in that senseless act of violence. We are absolutely shaken by the news and our deepest sympathies are with the family and our entire Aramark community,” an Aramark spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

Tiru Chabba was the regional president for Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, the Associated Press reported.

He was a husband and a father of two.

“Tiru Chabba’s family is going through the unimaginable now,” Bakari Sellers, one of the attorneys hired by Chabba’s family, said in a statement. “Instead of hiding Easter eggs and visiting with friends and family, they’re living a nightmare where this loving father and devoted husband was stolen from them in an act of senseless and preventable violence.”

Aramark provides food services and facilities management to hospitals, universities, school districts, stadiums, and other businesses around the world, according to its website.

According to the school’s website, Aramark manages the dining program at FSU.

Two people were killed and six others were injured in the shooting, officials said in a news conference Thursday evening. Police said the two men who died were not students, but no other victim information was immediately released by law enforcement.

According to NBC 6 South Florida and other media outlets, people close to the family identified the second shooting victim who died as Robert Morales, who was an FSU Dining Coordinator, according to his LinkedIn page.

Leon High School also announced the death of Morales on its website and said Morales was an assistant football coach.

“Coach Morales was a beloved member of our athletic community and served as an assistant coach for Leon Football with dedication, integrity, and true passion for mentoring young athletes,” the statement reads. “The loss of Coach Morales is deeply felt by all of us at Leon High School, especially during this difficult and tragic time.”

Morales is from Miami-Dade County, NBC 6 reported, and according to his LinkedIn page, he has held the job since 2015.

The Miami Herald reported that Morales, 57, was the son of Ricardo “Monkey” Morales, a shadowy Cuban-American CIA operative and anti-Castro militant.

According to a post, purportedly from his older brother, he is survived by a wife and daughter.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday said that in memory of the lives lost in the tragedy and to recognize the bravery shown by the first responders, he directed the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida until sunset on Monday.

PHOENIX – Memorial Day weekend for many means fueling up boats, loading up coolers and celebrating with family and friends. For a select group of amateur golfers, however, they’ll be seekig drier ground and competing in the 2025 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Golf Championship in Carlsbad, Calif.

Thirty college golf teams, including Arizona State, and six individual golfers have qualified to tee off at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, starting with 54 holes of stroke play starting Friday and finishing up Sunday. Representing the Sun Devils are 2024 U.S. Amateur champion and three-time All-American senior Josele Ballester, junior Michael Mjaaseth, sophomore Connor Williams, freshman Peer Wernicke, sophomore Fifa Laopakdee and senior Preston Summerhays.

Additionally, from San Diego all the way to Auburn, Ga., former Arizona high school athletes will compete in the final matchup of the 2024-2025 season with the hope of bringing home the ultimate prize in college golf.

Trey Moore

Team: Utah Utes
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Scottsdale
High School: Desert Mountain
Highlights: As one of the youngest competitors in the field, Moore has made a name for himself within the Utes program in just a short amount of time. He earned his high school team’s MVP award in 2023, and he secured two junior tournament titles during his time at Desert Mountain, including the Prescott City Junior Championship. Upside defines Moore’s game, but he’ll need to dig deep into his tool belt to secure a win against the more experienced competitors on the course this weekend.

Davis Johnson

Team: Utah Utes
Class: Junior (Redshirt)
Hometown: Scottsdale
High School: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy
Highlights: From being ranked in the Top 100 for the 2021 recruiting class to recording the team’s lowest stroke average last season (71.7), consistency is the name of Johnson’s game. He is currently ranked 331st according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking, but he’s risen as high as 175th on the list at his best. He’s had three top 10 finishes in the past 104 weeks, and he’ll look to add to that total this weekend.

Henry Dall

Team: San Diego Toreros
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Phoenix
High School: Brophy College Preparatory
Highlights: Yet another freshman on our list, Dall competed as a varsity golfer for Brophy Prep all four years of his high school career. During that time, the program appeared in three Arizona state championships, including securing the state title in 2021 and 2022. Dall’s current index maintains a +3.5, Amateurgolf.com reports, an admirable statistic at any level of golf. Though he has had quite a bit of success in high school, more is expected as he continues to pursue his collegiate golf career.

Mahanth Chirravuri

Team: Pepperdine Waves
Class: Junior
Hometown: Chandler
High School: Hamilton
Highlights: Though his college career started at USC, Chirravuri is now comfortably a part of the Pepperdine program, boasting a scoring average of 71.44 through his first 34 rounds of golf with the program. In more than half of those rounds (18 to be exact), Chirravuri shot below par, and placed second at the Saticoy Showdown earlier this season.

Johnnie Clark

Team: Oklahoma State Cowboys
Class: Sophomore
Hometown: Mesa
High School: Arizona Connections Academy
Highlights: At 6-feet-5, he stands out above much of the competition he sees on the course, literally and figuratively. As a freshman during the 2023-2024 season, Clark was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, and he tied for 13th at The Spring Indy at WinStar that very same season. He was also named a second-team AJGA All-American in 2022 and 2023.

Tyler Spielman

Team: Auburn Tigers
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Cave Creek
High School: Brophy College Preparatory
Highlights: The third and final freshman on this list is the 2022-2023 Arizona High School Player of the Year for the Arizona Republic, who was also ranked number one in national high school scoring averages for that season as well. Spielman is no stranger to pressure at a high level, having shot a combined 17-under to win the 2023 AIA state championship. Arizona State expressed interest, but he decided to take his talents down south to Alabama instead.

Tucker Clark

Team: Colorado Buffaloes
Class: Senior
Hometown: Paradise Valley
High School: Arcadia High School
Highlights: Clark has had a storied career at Colorado, showcasing his talents in several tournaments each season during his time swinging his clubs for the Buffaloes. As a true freshman, he helped lead his team to the NCAA regionals for the first time since 2012, and finished fourth on the team with a 72.52 stroke average over 21 rounds of golf (while playing at Notre Dame before transferring). Junior Golf Scoreboard ranked him as the number 15 player in the class of 2020 coming into college.

Preston Summerhays

Team: Arizona State Sun Devils
Class: Senior
Hometown: Scottsdale
High School: Chaparral
Highlights: Summerhays is only one of two seniors on the condensed Sun Devils roster, and with a father who is a Golf Digest Top 50 instructor, it’s clear success on the golf course is in his blood. Summerhays has had a standout career playing golf in Arizona, even earning a sponsor’s exemption for the 2022 WM Phoenix Open. Summerhays shot a career low 62 10-under at the Las Vegas Regional in 2023, and is expected to do much of the same this weekend in Southern California.

USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum has published the National Rankings for high school girls wrestlers for April 2025. This national ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 8-12, and athletes from all 50 states are eligible for selection.

These rankings have heavily impacted by two major USA Wrestling events, the Women’s Nationals in Spokane, Wash., along with the National Girls High School Recruiting Showcase in Las Vegas, Nev., In addition, all of USA Wrestling’s Regional competitions were evaluated, as well as a number of other national and state-level competitions.

With the Women’s Nationals serving as a World Team Trials event at the U15, U17, U20 and U23 levels, a number of athletes changed weight classes in order to try out for Team USA.

With the addition of weight classes in the post-season competition, the committee has brought back the 95-pound weight class (which is not included in most state high school seasons). The #1 wrestler in this month’s ranking at 95 pounds is Madison Healey of Pennsylvania.

Those who have remained ranked #1 but at different weight classes are Jaclyn Bouzakis of Pennsylvania (100), Morgan Turner of Illinois (105) and Everest Leydecker of Arizona (120).

Four other new #1 athletes in this ranking are Heather Crull of Indiana (110), Emma Bacon of Pennsylvania (125), Daniella Nugent of Massachusetts (140) and Tilisa Matakaiongo of Utah (235).

The athletes who remained at #1 at the same weight class are Epenesa Elison of California (115), Aubre Krazer of Pennsylvania (130), Taina Fernandez of Maryland (135), Violette Lasure of Pennsylvania (145), Piper Fowler of Tennessee (170) and Brooke Huffman of Wisconsin (190).

The Pound-For-Pound (P-4-P) rankings had significant changes, including a new #1 athlete, Everest Leydecker of Arizona, who has qualified for Senior-level Final X, won the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament, and earned a spot  on the U.S. U20 World Team.

Rounding out the top five of the Pound-For-Pound rankings are #1 Leydecker, #2 Fernandez, #3 Bouzakis, #4 Crull and #5 Fowler. Athletes who have moved up into the top 25 in the P-4-P are #13 Abbi Cooper of California, #14 Daniella Nugent of Massachusetts, #19 Tilisa Matakaiongo of Utah, #21 Cassandra Gonzales of Minnesota, #23 Taylor Whiting of Wisconsin and #24 Harlee Hiller of Illinois.

The final ranking for the year will be posted in early July prior to the annual USMC Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo, N.D. The final ranking will include assessment of USA Wrestling’s Women’s National Duals in Westfield, Ind. in June, as well as the rest of the major national-level competitions organized by a variety of wrestling organizations.

Coaches, parents and athletes are encouraged to provide information about specific athletes and their achievements throughout the year for the committee to consider. If they have information on specific girls who should be considered for ranking or updates on their achievements, please send it by email to girlsrankings@usawrestling.org. The quality of these rankings continue to improve as people choose to share updated information.
