Haydenettes are in position to win their second straight and seventh total World medal, earning a third-place finish in the short program on the opening day of the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2025 in Helsinki, Finland.
The 32-time U.S. champions and reigning World silver medalists recorded 76.53 points, just 0.25 points under their international season’s best. They are less than a point out of second place.
Skating to “Lim Fantasy of Companionship for Piano and Orchestra” by Barua Joi, Martin Manuel Denis and Cody Fry, the Haydenettes earned Level 4s on four of their five elements and positive grades of execution on every element, securing a GOE of 2.04 or higher on their first three elements, including their Level 4 intersection with a Level 4 point of intersection, which was awarded a program-high 10.07 points.
The most decorated synchronized skating team in U.S. Figure Skating history also tallied the second-highest component score in the competition with the team noting that they were “ecstatic” about their skate.
“We took the competition breath by breath and element by element, and really fed off each other’s energy,” Haydenette Paige Felton said. “It felt calm and confident throughout, and we hit the ending pose knowing we put out something very special.”
Competing at the World Championships for the fourth time, the Skyliners finished ninth with 58.57 points.
Their performance to “En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor” by Andrea Bocelli, London Symphony Orchestra and Lorin Maazel was awarded Level 4s on their first three elements. Although they suffered a fall on their intersection, their synchronized spin was a highlight and generated 7.43 points.
“Stepping out onto the ice in a sold-out arena is a feeling like no other. The energy from the crowd made it so easy to perform and express the program,” Skyliners team member Madison Jarvis said. “Although we failed to put out our best technical skate, we are proud to have finished strong and to have shown our resilience as a team in this skate and throughout this season.”
Competition continues Saturday with the free skate, which begins at 9 a.m. ET. For live results, how to watch and more, visit the U.S. Figure Skating Fan Zone.
