NEWARK, N.J. – Lehigh sophomore Audrey Jimenez will represent the United States at the UWW Senior World Championships in Croatia in September after sweeping her best-of-three series against Erin Golston Saturday at Final X at Prudential Center. Jimenez won her matches 10-2 and 12-2 Saturday to complete an outstanding spring campaign and secure the World Team spot at 50 kg.
In Saturday’s first match, Jimenez fell behind 2-0 at the break and had to fight off her back to avoid conceding a fall. Jimenez battled back in the second period, scoring a takedown plus two points of exposure to take a 4-2 lead. She added another four point move in the final seconds, plus a takedown right before the buzzer to take the first match 10-2.
Bout two saw Jimenez race to a 5-0 lead at the break behind a shot clock point and two takedowns. She closed out the win with under 15 seconds remaining with a takedown and a two-point turn.
Jimenez improved to 5-0 all-time versus Golston with Saturday’s two victories.

Patrycja Lagida Brings All-American Status to Demon Deacons Volleyball
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest volleyball program and head coach Jeff Hulsmeyer announced the signing of Patrycja Lagida on Tuesday. Lagida will join the Demon Deacons ahead of the 2025-26 school year as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining. A native of Chotomow, Poland, Lagida spent the last two seasons at Chicago […]

A native of Chotomow, Poland, Lagida spent the last two seasons at Chicago State University, where she most recently capped off an All-American season with the Cougars for the fall 2024 campaign.
“It’s not often you can add someone with such experience to your roster, but having Patrycja join us as an All-American, All-Midwest region honorable mention pick and league MVP is a wonderful addition to our program,” said head coach Jeff Hulsmeyer. “The training and competition she is getting this summer, playing for Poland’s Under-22 National Team, is also irreplaceable and will prepare her for the jump into the ACC. Getting to know Patrycja during the recruiting process, I can share that she is self-driven and very motivated to become the best player she can be. Patrycja loves the challenge of playing at the highest level of collegiate volleyball and wants to continue her playing career beyond college. I know the training we can give her, and the level of the ACC will give her that opportunity.”
Patrycja Lagida | 6-3 | Outside Hitter | Chotomow, Poland | Chicago State
During her sophomore year at Chicago State in 2024-25, Lagida finished as the team leader in total kills (346) for a mark that ranked second in the Northeast Conference. The standout hitter strung 17 performances of double-digit kills throughout the fall, including three separate showings with 24-plus. Lagida also showed high skill in her serving and defense to rank second on the roster in service aces (38) and fourth in digs (221). Her efforts resulted in being named the 2024 NEC Player of the Year, first team all-conference and NEC Tournament MVP. In December, she added to her postseason honors by earning honorable mention nods to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I All-America Team and All-Midwest Region Team. Lagida ultimately became the second all-time Chicago State volleyball player to receive AVCA All-American recognition.
Lagida helped pace the Cougars to a 19-10 record, recording the most single-season wins in program history en route to winning the NEC regular-season and tournament championships. Chicago State wrapped conference play with a 13-1 record and capped its historic season with a first-round NCAA Tournament appearance.
As a freshman in 2023-24, Lagida made an immediate impact to stand second in both kills (193) and aces (25) for the Cougars. The second and third matches of her collegiate career saw her post 22 and 24 kills, respectively, at Northern Illinois (Aug. 27) and UC Irvine (Sept. 1). She went on to have 10 or more kills in 10 different outings. Defensively, Lagida tallied 100 digs for her first year.
Lagida is the fifth player to sign with the Deacs in the Jeff Hulsmeyer era, joining a group that consists of Ryleigh Whitekettle, Ivana Cvetkovic, Anya Santrac and Sanaa Williams.

AUSTIN, Texas – College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced on Tuesday morning that TCU beach volleyball standout Daniela Alvarez has been named to the CSC First Team Academic All-America Team.
Alvarez gets the nod as part of the At-Large division. The At-Large program allows institutions to nominate six nominees per gender per school in sports that do not already have CSC Academic Teams.
Academic All-American is a title reserved for college student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom.
Teams are announced and amplified by CSC member colleges, universities, and conferences on a wide local, regional, national and even international scope. Nominating and voting for Academic All-America is an exclusive right of College Sports Communicators members.
CSC began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 42,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
Alvarez has earned a flurry of awards after an uber-successful season. Most notably, she was named AVCA Collegiate Beach Player of the Year and earned All-America and All-Big 12 accolades following her 27-6 season. The 2024 Paris Olympian appeared in the No. 1 spot for the Horned Frogs in every match in 2025 and only suffered two losses in her final 20 matches of the season.
She was previously selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team in June alongside Ana Vergara. In the classroom, the Spaniard earned a 3.84 GPA.

For Texas women’s basketball junior Madison Booker, this summer didn’t mean slowing down.
Instead, the 6-foot-1 forward traveled to Santiago, Chile, to help Team USA win the gold at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup with a 92-84 victory over Brazil in Sunday’s championship game.
The win marked her fourth gold medal with USA Basketball and her first on the senior AmeriCup stage.
“What a performance by our team,” Team USA coach Kara Lawson said after the championship. “Three weeks together and we capped it off the way we hoped — to win a gold medal.”
Booker logged 25 minutes in the final, finishing with seven points and five rebounds. Though she wasn’t the leading scorer, her rebounding, poise and defensive presence helped Team USA erase a halftime deficit of two points and hold Brazil off down the stretch.
Throughout the week, Booker carved out a consistent, steady role on a roster full of NCAA stars. In the semifinal against Canada, she posted 12 points to help her team pull away with a win. Against the Dominican Republic in the quarterfinal, she recorded 13 points, three assists and a tournament-high six steals, tying a USA AmeriCup record.
Her effort on both sides of the court showed in a group-stage matchup with Puerto Rico. With the game tied late in the second quarter, Booker sparked a 17-3 third-quarter run by scoring seven quick points.
“I liked that we went into halftime and had to figure some things out. We had to regroup,” Lawson said. “The group that started that third quarter — and Maddie — was a big part of that.
In that game, Booker finished with nine points, five assists, three blocks and two steals in just 20 minutes — one of her most complete performances of the tournament.
“Like coach said, it was a test for us,” Booker said postgame. “(We) have to learn from this moment and grow as a team.”
The tournament featured 10 national teams from across the Americas, and Team USA finished undefeated at 7–0.
This victory is Booker’s fourth gold with USA Basketball, adding to her collection of previous titles from the U16 Americas Championship in 2021, the U17 World Cup in 2022 and the U19 World Cup in 2023. She also appeared in the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit in which she led all players in rebounding.
Booker now returns to Texas with another accolade under her belt. After earning Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and first team All-American honors as a sophomore, she’ll rejoin a Longhorn team that reached the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament in 2024 with championship expectations.
“First Team All-American and she’s as humble as American pie,” Texas head coach Vic Schaefer said in a June 9 interview with KVUE. “She’s just a great kid. Unbelievable parents raised her right — but I’ve got a whole team of that.”

(The Center Square) – House Republicans issued a petition to discharge Senate Bill 9, known as the Save Women’s Sports Act, to the chamber floor.
The measure is currently sitting in the House Education Committee and is unlikely to move forward in the Democrat-controlled chamber.
“Senate Bill 9 needs both debate and a vote,” said Rep. Barbara Gleim, R-Carlisle, informing the House of the petition.
“It’s imperative we protect equal opportunities for female athletes,” said Rep. Wendy Fink, R-Red Lion, who signed the petition. “Allowing a biological male to compete on a women’s team puts all women on the playing field at a disadvantage.”
The bill would require schools to adopt definitions of “sex” based on biological distinctions, thus excluding trans and non-binary athletes who were assigned male at birth from women’s sports teams.
Advocates say that measures like this support Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in schools and other institutions that receive federal funding.
“The Commonwealth must prioritize the safety, privacy, and opportunities of biological women and girls over political pandering,” wrote the America First Policy Institute.
Opponents of the bill say that SB 9 and measures like it have nothing to do with protecting women. Rather, they are aimed at discriminating against trans people.
“We don’t need to do this,” said Sen. Katie Muth, D-Royersford, who called it “state sanctioned bullying.”
Muth cited a peer-reviewed study published in Nature which showed a significant increase of suicide attempts in trans youth after states had enacted similar legislation.
Last week, the University of Pennsylvania was the latest high-profile incident in which a school was held to account for actions deemed in violation of Title IX by the Trump administration.
Opponents emphasize that some of the loudest advocates for anti-trans legislation have not limited their commentary to physiological differences or athletic competitiveness. Instead, the debate often centers around the validity of trans identities.
Republicans noted bipartisan support of the measure, which received five yes votes from Democratic senators. The remaining eighteen voted against the measure. Republicans voted in unanimous support.
