LUBBOCK, Texas – Washington softball’s Sophia Ramuno, Alexis DeBoer, Morgan Reimer and Jadyn Glab were named to NFCA All-Mountain Region Teams, the organization announced on Thursday. Ramuno and DeBoer were named to the second team, while Reimer and Glab were tabbed to the third team.
The Huskies have 134 All-Region selections in program history. 2025 marks the 12th consecutive season that Washington has four or more honors.
Ramuno earns her first career NFCA all-region honor after posting a 2.16 ERA in the circle with a 10-5 overall record. She has struck out 138 batters, the eighth-most in the Big Ten. Ramuno’s 6.27 strikeout-to-walk ratio is sixth nationally and 8.8 strikeouts per seven innings is 17th-most in the NCAA. Earlier this season, she became the sixth Husky to strikeout 15 or more batters in a game – and the first since 2022.
After being named Big Ten Freshman of the Year last week, DeBoer earns a second team all-region nod. She leads the team in batting average (.369), home runs (20), RBI (54) and tied for the team lead with 26 walks. DeBoer became the second freshman in program history to hit 20 or more home runs and the fifth Big Ten freshman to do so. She is also a Top 10 finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year.

In her 111.1 innings of work, Reimer has struck out 123 batters, thrown five complete games and three shutouts. She has tallied a team-leading four saves – tied for the sixth-most in a single season at UW.
Glab earns the first all-region honor of her career. In 51 games this season, she holds a .316 average with 12 doubles, 14 home runs, 26 walks and 40 RBI. Last week, Glab was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive team with a .990 fielding percentage behind the dish.

We are in a brand new era in college football. NIL and the transfer portal began massive change in 2021 and those changes have not stopped four years later. Some big ones are on the way once the House v. NCAA settlement brings revenue-sharing and a clearinghouse for NIL deals to college athletics. But there are some other changes coming to the college football calendar.
Spring practice across the sport could be changing very soon.
A new spring practice proposal was shared with coaches at the ACC spring meetings, Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported. It would include adding six contactless OTA-style practices. The proposal of a single transfer portal window continues to be discussed for either January, March, or April. Four months ago, coaches announced that they wanted to eliminate the spring transfer portal window and have a single 10-day window for free agency in January during the AFCA convention in Charlotte.
How teams use these practices would be up to each individual program. Programs could use the OTAs (organized team activities) all in the traditional spring construct or save some for May and June in the summer after spring semesters end across the country. There will likely be multiple defined windows — one in the spring during school and one during summer break — when teams could get on the field and practice.
What would this do for spring games? That is unknown at the moment. Some programs felt that their roster could get poached with a second transfer portal looming. Others felt that they simply didn’t have enough players on the roster with so much transfer movement. With the arrival of roster limits, teams will simply be smaller in numbers and might not have enough players available in the spring to host an intrasquad scrimmage.
There are unintended consequences with every move but it seems that the coaches are really pushing for this extra practice time along with a single 10-day portal window. Some big changes are on the way as soon as the settlement is passed.

Donald Trump encouraged Apple CEO Tim Cook to raise production in the US rather than expanding manufacturing in India.
US President Donald Trump on Thursday claimed that India had offered the US a nearly no-tariff deal on a reciprocal basis.
“They have offered us a deal where we’re basically they’re willing to literally charge us no tariff,” President Trump said while addressing a news conference in Doha. He also mentioned that he encouraged Apple CEO Tim Cook to raise production in the US rather than expanding manufacturing in India.
“I had a little problem with Tim Cook yesterday. I said to him, my friend, I am treating you very good. You are coming up with $500 billion, but now I hear you are building all over India. I don’t want you building in India. You can build in India, if you want to take care of India because India is one of the highest tariff nations in the world, so it is very hard to sell in India,” Trump said.
Earlier it was reported that Apple is set to transition all production of iPhones destined for the US market to India. Apple’s decision to ramp up its production in India aligns with its broader goal of diversifying manufacturing operations away from China.
Meanwhile, India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s is going to US on May 16 to commence advance trade talks which is going on for some time at official level. This visit comes post US Vice President JD Vance’s trip to New Delhi in April in an effort to secure a bilateral trade deal with US.
On May 12, US President Donald Trump claimed that his administration helped broker an immediate ceasefire between India and Pakistan and told them that US wants to increase trade with both.
“I’m very proud to let you know that the leadership of India and Pakistan was unwavering and powerful… And we helped a lot, and we also helped with trade. I said, ‘Come on, we’re going to do a lot of trade with you guys. Let’s stop it, let’s stop it. If you stop it, we’re doing trade. If you don’t stop it, we’re not going to do any trade,’” Trump stated, highlighting his administration’s use of trade leverage to encourage peace.
India has however denied Trade being part of talks with the US. The MEA said, “From the time Op Sindoor commenced on May 7, till the understanding on cessation of firing and military action on May 10, there were conversations between Indian and U.S. leaders on the evolving military situation. The issue of trade did not come up in any of these discussions.” (ANI)

FAU’s Baba Miller has committed to Cincinnati from the NCAA Transfer Portal. That comes per reporting by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony this afternoon, according to his representation.
Miller has also since confirmed that news himself with a post on social media. He shared his farewell graphic to the Owls earlier today before posting his commitment graphic for the Bearcats.
Miller has played in Florida throughout his three-year collegiate career, with this past season spent at Florida Atlantic after the two prior at Florida State. He has averaged 8.5 points (47.1% FG), 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, in 82 games played with 68 starts for the Owls and Seminoles. Miller had a career-best season this past year as a junior at 11.3 points (48.6% FG), 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 blocks for FAU, which earned him a selection as Second Team All-AAC. He has also previously tested for the NBA Draft, before returning to college, in 2023 and 2024.
Miller, a native of Mallorca, came from overseas as a Top 200 recruit and a three-star in the 2022 cycle. He also rated just outside the Top 30 at power forward in the class. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Now, in his second transfer in as many offseasons, Miller was one of the top players still available in the portal. He, per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, ranked at No. 106 and as a Top-20 PF.
Miller is now the latest portal transaction for Cincinnati. The Bearcats had lost nine transfers to the portal with Dillon Mitchell (St. John’s), Tyler Betsey (Syracuse), Dan Skillings (Baylor), Josh Reed (Penn State), and Arrinten Page (Northwestern) having committed. Transfers Connor Hickman, Rayvon Griffith, JJ Rembert, and CJ Anthony remain uncommitted.
Cincy has, in turn, added six players now with Miller joining Moustapha Thiam (UCF), Jalen Haynes (George Mason), Sencire Harris (West Virginia), Jalen Celestine (Baylor), and Kerr Kriisa (Kentucky). Miller is the second-best addition in that class behind only Thiam, the No. 1 transfer center per On3, with those two giving their frontcourt a pair of very tall options inside.
To keep up with the latest players on the move, check out On3’s Transfer Portal wire.
The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.
