NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Park Softball’s middle infield, senior second baseman Maddy Tan and junior shortstop Kayla Lorenz, both secured spots on the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin’s (CCIW) all-conference team on Wednesday morning. Both infielders were named to the second team.
Lorenz, now a three-year starting shortstop for Coach Katie Anderson, finished conference play as North Park’s leader at the plate. The middle infielder from Vernon Hills, Illinois hit .326 with five doubles and a pair of triples in league play (.522 SLG), scoring 10 times while driving in eight. Defensively, she fielded .963 with 45 assists and spun four double plays. This is the third time in three seasons making the All-CCIW team, earning second teams honors in her 2023 freshman season and first team honors in her 2024 sophomore season.
Tan started at second base for all four of her seasons at North Park, improving her on-base percentage every year. The Skokie, Illinois senior led the CCIW with 12 walks in conference play and became North Park’s all-time Walks leader with 61 in her career. Tan hit .308 with a pair of doubles, a triple, and home run against CCIW pitching, scoring six runs and boasting a .481 OBP. She made just one error in conference play, fielding .983 with 28 assists while spinning three double plays. This is the first all-conference recognition of Tan’s career.
Additionally, junior outfielder Kayla Sapolu was North Park’s representative for the CCIW’s RESPECT Award, demonstrating leadership on and off the field.
