Avery Wright’s heptathlon win and an Oredigger steeplechase sweep highlighted the second day of the 2025 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Stermole Track on Saturday.

Wright and Lisa Sutherland finished 1-2 in the women’s combined event before Emily LaMena and Alex Shaw captured steeplechase gold to close the session. With nine events scored, the Oredigger men lead the competition with 99 points ahead of UCCS’ 84; through eight events, the Mines women are second with 87 points, trailing UCCS’ 96.5.

Wright defended her RMAC heptathlon title with 4,805 points, long jumping 5.22m, adding a 35.49m javelin, and then, with the gold all but already assured, working to pace Sutherland in the 800m to finish in 2:36.05. Sutherland had a great start to the day with a 5.48m long jump, threw the javelin 30.19m, and then hit a four-second PR in the 800m in 2:31.41.

LaMena blazed to her first RMAC title with a 10:39.03 breakaway to win the 3,000m steeplechase, the fastest at-altitude time in program history. Less than a half hour later, it was the 1-2 punch of Shaw and Max Bonenberger atop the men’s race as Bonenberger did the early work before Shaw pulled back a breakaway with his move just past the halfway point; Shaw closed in 9:12.08 and Bonenberger 9:13.22. Margaux Basart finished 12th in the women’s race in 11:30.81.

Claire Kintzley earned the women’s triple jump bronze medal, leaping 11.88m on her final attempt to move from fifth to third. 

Holden Murphy, the hammer throw silver medalist on Friday, added a discus bronze to his weekend with his 48.09m best throw. He was one of three Oredigger men to score as Cade Whish’s personal-best 46.74m got him into finals to finish seventh, and Franklin Rambo was eighth at 45.08m. Keaton Reiman finished 18th at 41.36m. In the women’s shot put, it was Kitt Rupar earning bronze thanks to her 14.83m toss; Wright was 10th at 12.37m while Jennifer Jarnagin was 16th with an 11.57m toss.

In the men’s decathlon, both Nick Stade and Vaughn Hafner scored team points finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Stade scored 6,258 points buoyed by a 4.10m pole vault and 16.13-second 110m hurdles; Hafner scored 5,948 points topped by his 16.94-second hurdles and a 34.64m discus throw. 

In track prelims, defending champion Everett Delate cruised to the top qualifying time in the 110m hurdles, running 14.18 to advance. Coulton Chan was ninth in 14.92 seconds. Wright – in the middle of competing in the shot put – ran 14.76 to qualify sixth in the 100m hurdles as Sutherland finished 10th (14.96) and Allison Comer 11th (15.02). Mines put two men through to the 800m final as Tim Thompson eased to a 1:52.73 and Shalom Trowbridge was the final time qualifier in 1:53.04, while Owen Schneider finished 16th in 1:54.78. Avary Catchings slipped into the final qualifying spot in the women’s 800m running 2:17.08, just ahead of teammate Imani Fernandez-Gorbea who finished ninth in 2:17.32. Tegan Daughters was 13th (21.76) and Jathan Busby 19th (22.14) in the 200m dash. 

Sunday’s final day of the meet starts with the women’s javelin at 9 a.m., with track events beginning at noon.

Boise State Esports has partnered with Whole Being Massage this season to support player wellness and preparation during travel. With a competitive schedule that includes events across the country, Boise State’s varsity esports team benefits from targeted support designed to ease the physical demands of long-distance trips and extended periods of gameplay.

Whole Being Massage visited the esports arena twice during the spring semester to provide two-hour sessions for student-athletes and staff. The first visit occurred just before the team traveled to the Hawai’i Esports Invitational. The second session came ahead of the trip to Arlington, Texas, where the Broncos were named school of the year. Each session gave participants a chance to focus on recovery, circulation, and relaxation before major travel days.

These visits were coordinated to take place shortly before departure to help prepare the team for cross-regional travel and multiple days of back-to-back competition. Travel days and tournament schedules can often be physically taxing, especially when paired with the intense concentration required in high-level esports play. The services provided were aimed at supporting physical readiness and helping players prepare both mentally and physically for competition.

This weekend, Whole Being Massage will be joining Boise State Esports once again. This time, at the Idaho High School State Championships. Their team will be located in the lobby of the Boise State Esports Arena. Visitors will be able to learn more about their approach and watch demonstrations throughout the tournament.

Attendees can look for the Whole Being Massage logo on event signage and during the event livestream. Boise State Esports appreciates their support throughout the season and is excited to feature them during the championship weekend.

West Bend, Wi – Wisconsin’s first official eSports Sim Racing Center is now open in West Bend, Wi. The RacingHaus, 540 Shepherds Drive, is owned by Ben Morales. The state-of-the-art eSports facility offers opportunities for racing, leagues, private events and high school eSports training and development.


“This is a perfect location because we’re surrounded by a strong racing commitment including the Slinger Speedway, Milwaukee Mile, and Elkhart Lake,” said Morales.

The RacingHaus has 9 simulators along with a full-motion Formula racing simulator.

Hours of operation are Tuesday-Saturday from noon until 10 p.m. (last session beginning at 8 p.m.), and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. (the last session beginning at 4 p.m.).

Morales said there are two big sensations. “People will replicate the feeling of having almost zero power steering and because it’s full motion and you’re turning right, your body will feel it. These systems are top level and this equipment is used by racers around the world.”

Morales can set up group races so customers can compete against their friends. He said the equipment is also ADA compliant and it can be adapted for people with special needs.

Iconic releases like GTA V and RDR 2 consistently dominate sales charts, remaining fan favorites for years on end. However, this success story has not always been straightforward. While the GTA series has reliably generated substantial revenue, the studio has also taken bold steps into various genres and experimented with unique settings. Eventually, someone had the brilliant idea to create a high school simulator infused with Rockstar’s signature humor, sharp social commentary, satire, and the many complexities of teenage life. This innovative approach has allowed the studio to blend fun and meaningful storytelling in a fresh way. Soon after enrollment, Jimmy’s mother leaves for an extended honeymoon with her new companion, leaving her son to his own devices in an unfamiliar and hostile environment. Bullworth School has become notorious for its less-than-favorable side: this institution has acquired notoriety as a refuge for difficult teenagers. Passions boil within its walls, because the interests and ambitions of a motley group intertwine: from self-confident athletes and spoiled children from rich families to bullies, studious nerds, local hooligans and incorrigible delinquents.

The gameplay presents a classic third-person action-adventure experience, immersing players in a vibrant world. Over the course of six engaging chapters, players can switch between tackling story missions and attending various school classes, each offering unique challenges. Additionally, the game features a variety of side activities to earn cash—such as mowing lawns, shoveling snow, and delivering newspapers, which add depth to the experience.

The game world is thoughtfully divided into distinct neighborhoods that gradually unlock as players progress through the unfolding narrative. Unlike the protagonists in the GTA series, who often rely on lethal weaponry, this schoolboy’s adventure maintains a lighter, more playful tone. Hopkins is equipped with an amusing arsenal that includes firecrackers, itchy powder, stink bombs, a potato cannon, a baseball bat, a slingshot, a rocket launcher, and, of course, his own fists, which he wields with a mix of humor and creativity.

We have a system at our disposal that is similar in principle to a space hunt for stars. As we move up the success scale, we may encounter a moment when we are under surveillance. Depending on the severity of the violation, we may be invited to a special training session or even sent to the director.

These sessions are implemented in the form of exciting mini-game tests. Successful completion of them opens up the opportunity to receive unique clothing items or expand the inventory for carrying certain types of items. All this brings an additional element of excitement and variety to our exciting adventure.

Conclusion

What makes the game leave a strange feeling and slight confusion? First of all, it is hidden in its scenario design. The main plot and the image of the antagonist become predictable literally from the first minutes. After the first meeting with the main villain, players do not encounter him until the very end, which is stretched out for 10-12 hours, which is excessively long for this format of gameplay.

Gary, the shadow manipulator of Bullworth Academy, turns the performance of side missions related to establishing power over various factions into routine and insignificant tasks. These quests are reduced to banal activities – from breaking windows and throwing snowballs at classmates to asking a girl out on a date. As a result, they lose their appeal and turn into a monotonous, tedious series of tasks devoid of the expected drama and passion inherent in open-world games.

The second important aspect is the image of the protagonist Jimmy Hopkins. Even with his teenage aggression and problematic behavior, it is hard to justify his stupidity and almost complete lack of charisma. Players find it hard to empathize with Jimmy, as he remains a dull and monosyllabic character throughout the story. If Bully’s plot had any connection to GTA 3, it would be possible to imagine Jimmy evolving into Claude, the silent and characterless protagonist of GTA 3. This lack of character development and depth leaves players cold and alienated.

Ultimately, the combination of a formulaic script and an unlikable protagonist seriously undermines the overall experience of the project. A game that has the potential for a vibrant narrative and expressive characters fails to live up to expectations, leaving players feeling unsatisfied and searching for a more immersive gaming experience.

Thirdly, the studio that has gained worldwide fame thanks to gripping plots, charismatic antiheroes and iconic villains, as well as mastery in creating dramatic courtroom stories, has presented a dull project this time. The game disappoints with a superficial plot and stereotypical characters that do not evoke either sympathy or empathy. Rockstar, alas, has become a prisoner of the chosen concept. Creating an intriguing game about the life of a rebel, where the only interest is attending classes, is an almost impossible task. The main part of the gameplay comes down to monotonous brawls with classmates, and even a relatively diverse system of combat techniques is not able to improve the situation. This is, without a doubt, the weakest product in Rockstar’s portfolio, devoid of the signature ingenuity and depth that its fans so expect.

DANBURY, CT — Immaculate High School’s eSports team captured its second consecutive state championship in Mario Kart on May 6, defeating the Sheehan Titans of Wallingford during the CIAC tournament hosted at Quinnipiac University.

The winning squad, known as the “Mustang Yoshis,” trained extensively in the lead-up to the competition and credited teamwork and preparation for their success.

“Our eSports team was on a mission and trained hard for this victory,” said Immaculate eSports Coach David Quesnell. “I told them that if we made the finals, I would get a Mario Kart tattoo – so I did. We have a tremendous team spirit which shows in our performance.”

Team member Sam Crowe of Danbury said the victory was especially meaningful for him as a newcomer to eSports. “I was looking for a new sport and started going to eSports after school. Winning was pretty cool.”

Eli Ribeiro, also of Danbury, emphasized the competitive nature of the event. “Even though eSports may not seem physical, it is just like any other sport because to win a competition we have to train and be better than the other teams.”

The CIAC tournament included multiple titles, such as Rocket League and Super Smash Bros., and was hosted in collaboration with PlayVS, an online platform focused on organizing school-based eSports competitions.

“This team trains, practices and competes just like any other athletic team here at Immaculate,” said Athletic Director Nelson Mingachos. “We’re so proud of our eSports squad for bringing home another championship.”

The National Education Association has reported substantial growth in high school eSports nationwide, with several colleges now offering scholarships for competitive gaming.

PANAMA CITY — FSU Panama City is expected to launch a collegiate bass fishing team later this year.

The team is expected to debut in the fall semester. In addition to the fishing team, FSU Panama City will host a fishing club as one of its registered student organizations this fall.

According to a press release, the club will provide students of all levels of experience with a way to learn more about diverse types of fishing and participate at a comfortable level. The team, meanwhile, is for experienced anglers looking to compete.

FSU Panama City began competing in the Peach Belt Conference esports league in 2023.

Timothy Kessler-Cleary, director of Student Affairs for FSU Panama City, said the school is working with Travis Page, coach of Mosely High School’s Bassmasters fishing team, to help organize the college’s club and team.

The bass fishing team will be the school’s second collegiate sports team. More details can be found at pc.fsu.edu/esports.

“Bass fishing teams are growing at the high school and college levels,” Kessler-Cleary said in the release. “Given the popularity of the sport in the local community and the region, we see starting the team as an excellent opportunity to bring the sport to the FSU Panama City campus and provide an opportunity for students who are competing at the high school level — as well as current FSU Panama City students — to compete at the college level.”
