UFC 316 star storms out of Media Day when asked about bitter feud with Rampage Jackson

UFC 316 star Kevin Holland stormed out of Media Day this afternoon after being asked about his bitter rivalry with Rampage Jackson.

The pair are at loggerheads after a disastrous appearance from Holland on the former light-heavyweight champion’s Jaxxon podcast earlier this year. After an intense back-and-forth, the welterweight contender insisted that he would be keen to fight his elder despite their significant size disparity.

At the time, Holland was in camp for a fight with Reinier De Ridder at UFC 311, which he ended up losing by submission. However, he quickly returned at UFC London when he defeated Gunnar Nelson in a comeback fight back down at 170lb.

Kevin Holland walks out of UFC 316 Media Day amid Rampage Jackson feud

During his media rounds this afternoon, Kevin Holland was asked about his appearances on Rampage Jackson’s Jaxxon podcast. He first claimed that he is still waiting on payment for his appearance, before eventually lashing out at a reporter who asked about the status of their relationship.

Holland is a beloved trash talker in the UFC welterweight division, but has quit giving interviews after the controversial appearance. “Ever since the Jaxxon Podcast interview I really don’t do none of that s— any more, they killed it for everybody.

“Speaking of that, they still owe me a couple grand and they always do a bad job of paying me on the first of the month. They usually pay around the tenth, I don’t know if they’ve got a money problem but they’ve got to do better with that.”

He was then asked about his relationship with Jackson, which caused a major stir. “My current relationship with Rampage Jackson?” He replied, seemingly baffled by the question. “Bro, Rampage Jackson’s not currently in the UFC is he? Then get off his d—, thank you. I’m out of here guys, have a good day.”

Holland did ultimately stay to pose for photographs, but appeared discontent with the question from a member of the press pack.

Kevin Holland and Rampage Jackson had heated podcast showdown

Holland made an appearance on the Jaxxon Podcast back in January, just days before his fight in California against Reinier De Ridder. Things turned heated, with a fight almost breaking out between Rampage Jackson and the UFC star.

The trash-talker discussed the idea of an unrealistic contest with the former UFC world champion, to which Rampage insisted: “That’s the last thing he wants to do is fight me.” Holland replied: “I still want to. I don’t give a f— about the fight on Saturday.”

The 46-year-old then said in a sterner tone: “I’m being real with you young buck, you don’t want to fight me.” Holland fired back: “That sounds good,” before Rampage concluded: “Sometimes, people don’t know what they want. You don’t want to fight me.”

UFC star Derrick Lewis isn’t confident he’ll fight on a potential card at The White House.

UFC heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis will look to continue his rise up the rankings this Saturday at UFC Nashville. Lewis and Tallison Teixeira headline an intriguing card featuring the likes of Stephen Thompson, Calvin Kattar, and Nate Landwehr.

Lewis, the UFC’s all-time knockouts leader, is one of the promotion’s biggest fan favorites. His one-punch knockout power and unique personality have led Lewis to headline several UFC pay-per-view cards.

But if UFC CEO Dana White makes a fight card happen at The White House next year, Lewis isn’t holding his breath that he’ll be called upon to feature against another top heavyweight.

Derrick Lewis believes U.S. Government would stop him from fighting at The White House

U.S. President Donald Trump made headlines earlier this month when he announced a UFC card in the works at The White House next year to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary of its independence. Several top names, including recently retired Jon Jones, are interested in featuring on the card.

Lewis, who shouted out President Trump following one of his most iconic knockout wins, believes some of his past transgressions will prevent him from fighting at The White House.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie‘s Mike Bohn, Lewis explained why he isn’t getting his hopes up in the UFC matchmakers giving him a call to fight at The White House.

“Yeah that’s crazy, it would be so weird to fight at The White House, in the front yard?” Lewis said.

“I for sure would just think they wouldn’t even approve me to be at The White House. I probably can’t be 500 yards from The White House, they wouldn’t let me on the yard. Because of my [criminal] record.

“But, it would be a lot of fun to perform at The White House, it would be huge.”

Lewis was charged with aggravated assault and placed on probation following an incident just two weeks after he received his High School diploma. After violating his probation, he was sentenced to five years in prison, but was released after 42 months.

Lewis has since turned his life around and has become one of the top heavyweight MMA fighters in the world. He’s looking to extend his UFC knockout record this weekend against Teixeira and close in on a potential title shot.

Derrick Lewis could face Tom Aspinall with big performance at UFC Nashville

After Tom Aspinall became the UFC’s undisputed heavyweight champion following Jones’s abrupt retirement, Aspinall’s first undisputed title challenger is uncertain. Lewis could potentially get his name in the mix with a triumphant performance this weekend, as he’s one of the few Top 10 contenders who Aspinall hasn’t faced.

Aspinall hasn’t fought since defending the interim heavyweight title against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 last July. He’s repeatedly hinted at a looming announcement by the UFC for his next opponent.

A matchup between Aspinall and Lewis would be fireworks, especially in a potential fight on The White House lawn. But first things first for Lewis as he prepares to face the tallest fighter on the UFC roster this weekend.

Schedule of events during MLB All

It’s all about taking a break from the regular season to put on a spectacular game of baseball featuring some of the sport’s greatest athletes. And for the third time ever — and after a quarter century of waiting — it’s coming back to Atlanta.

When and where is 2025 MLB All-Star Week?

The Midsummer Classic is coming to Truist Park on July 15, where players will hit the field at 8 p.m. ET. The stadium’s address is 755 Battery Ave. SE Atlanta, Georgia 30339. Those interested in learning more about the stadium can visit mlb.com/braves/apps/ballpark to download its app.

What’s there to do during MLB All-Star Week?

The All-Star Game itself is only a part of what MLB All-Star Week has to offer.

The fun kicks off with the HBCU Swingman Classic, a game featuring all-star players from historically Black colleges and universities, at Truist Park on July 11 at 7 p.m.

July 12 will feature two Truist Park competitions: the All-Star Futures game and the MLB All-Star celebrity softball game. The All-Star Futures game, which begins at 4:10 p.m., will see some of baseball’s rising stars and top minor league talent battle it out, while the celebrity softball game, which is only five innings, will start at 7 p.m. and is set to feature the likes of Big Boi, Kandi Burruss, Jordan Chiles and Jermaine Dupri.

July 13 will be a busy day for baseball fans, starting with the 2025 MLB All-Star 4.4 Miler. Held in honor of Atlanta Braves legend Hank Aaron, the running event starts at Center Parc Stadium at 7:30 a.m. Interested runners and joggers can sign up to race at mlb.com/all-star/4-4-miler.

The derby is the next thing on the docket. The MLB Home Run Derby X is a three-on-three co-ed competition featuring some of the biggest names from women’s baseball and professional softball. The event will be hosted at Russ Chandler Stadium‘s Mac Nease Baseball Park on Georgia Tech’s campus on July 13 at 2:30 p.m.

Later that day, the 2025 MLB Draft will be going down at the Coca-Cola Roxy in The Battery Atlanta at 6 p.m.

On Monday, 2025 MLB All-Star Week is bringing out its heavy hitters. At 8 p.m. on July 14, the T-Mobile Home Run Derby will begin. It’s a head-to-head, bracketed tournament dedicated to crowning the year’s home run champion. Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Teoscar Hernandez took home the top spot last year.

Finally, before the big game on Tuesday, fans can catch the All-Star Red Carpet Show at 2 p.m. at The Battery, which will also be shown live on MLB Network. The MLB All-Star Game will start at 8 p.m. in Truist Park on July 15.

For tickets to all of 2025 MLB All-Star Week’s offerings, visit mlb.com/braves/fans/all-star-game.

Throughout the events, from July 12-15, Cobb Galleria Centre will host Capital One’s All-Star Village. The village will feature live entertainment, interactive games, batting cages, photo ops, food and more.

Where to stay near Truist Park

The official hotel of the Atlanta Braves, Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta, is right next to Truist Park. The team also lists six other nearby spots as “preferred hotels” for Truist Park visitors:

  • Aloft Atlanta at The Battery Atlanta
  • Atlanta Marriott Northwest at Galleria
  • Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia
  • Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center
  • DoubleTree Suites by Hilton at The Battery Atlanta
  • Sonesta Atlanta Northwest Galleria – Marietta

Parking options near Truist park

To park at this stadium, you’ll need to purchase a spot. Truist Park strongly recommends pre-purchasing parking spots before visiting, as it stops selling parking after the first pitch.

Pricing for parking changes by day, as well as by section, so visitors will want to check online at MLB.com/braves/ballpark for the most up to date prices. A map of the stadium’s different parking sections can be viewed here.

IU basketball recruiting

Class of 2027 guard LJ Smith announced a scholarship offer from Indiana on Sunday afternoon.

It appears IU assistant Kenny Johnson is leading the charge here.  Smith thanked Johnson in his announcement of the offer on X.

Based on the average of the national recruiting rankings, Smith is a 4-star, the No. 49 player in the 2027 class, and the No. 2 combo guard.  Two outlets — 247Sports and ESPN — have Smith as a top-30 player in the class.  He appears to be trending favorably.

Smith played his first two years of high school at Lincolnton H.S. in Lincolnton, N.C.   As a high school sophomore he averaged 33.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.6 steals per game.  He scored at least 40 points in seven games as Lincolnton went 24-6.

In 2024-25, the 6-foot-4 Smith broke the NCHSAA sophomore single-season scoring record.

For travel basketball Smith plays for Team Thad on the Nike EYBL Circuit.  He is playing up a year with the 17u team and averaging 13.8 points while shooting 44.4% from three on 54 attempts.

Smith is a fluid athlete and a skilled guard who can score the ball at an elite level.  He’s a very good shooter and has a solid frame for his age.  That latter point should allow Smith to be a force in the paint on offense, and a top-end defender.

Smith is already one of the most coveted guards in his class.  He also has offers from North Carolina, Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia, Kansas, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and West Virginia.
