Unilever, a global goods manufacturer, has solidified its commitment to the sports sector by announcing a partnership with World Rugby, marking its entry as an official partner of all Rugby World Cup events through to 2029.

This strategic multi-tournament agreement will see Unilever’s personal care products, including notable brands like Dove, prominently featured at the upcoming 2027 Rugby World Cup, which is set to take place in Australia.

The partnership kicks off this summer with the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup, hosted in England, and will conclude with the following Women’s Rugby World Cup in Australia four years later.

Michel Poussau, the CRO at World Rugby, commented on the significance of this partnership, stating that it arrives during a pivotal time for rugby as the women’s game continues to accelerate in popularity.

Poussau expressed confidence that Unilever’s dual commitment to both the men’s and women’s Rugby World Cups will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional events, designed to inspire both players and fans. Poussau further highlighted the ambition to make the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup the most memorable event to date.

The upcoming tournament has generated significant interest, with 275,000 tickets already sold, a figure that doubles the total from the 2021 event in New Zealand.

This spike in enthusiasm offers Unilever an opportunity to leverage its association with rugby, enhancing brand visibility and engagement as it seeks to connect with a wider audience.

This partnership adds to Unilever’s growing portfolio of sports sponsorships, which aims to heighten its brand presence across various platforms.

Recently, the company reaffirmed its long-standing relationship with UEFA by extending its sponsorship for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 tournament, in addition to holding rights for UEFA EURO 2024.

Unilever’s involvement also spans further than UEFA, with partnerships in place for FIFA competitions, including the 2026 Men’s World Cup, the 2027 Women’s World Cup, as well as the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
