SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Head coach Pinder Nijjar and the University of San Francisco women’s soccer team officially announced its schedule for the upcoming 2025 season today.
“We are extremely excited to get back with this group in August and take off from where we left at the end of spring,” said Nijjar. “We have a mix of opponents that all possess different qualities that will test us and help us prepare for a strong WCC campaign. We are looking forward to welcoming our amazing San Francisco fans from in and around the community during the extended stretch of home games in the middle of the nonconference season.”
Nijjar enters his second season at the helm of the Dons after taking over for Jim Millinder in July 2024. The 2025 schedule features 20 matches – two exhibitions, ten home matches, and eight road matches.
Beginning with two familiar opponents, San Francisco will travel south to Cal Poly for their first exhibition match on Aug. 6 before returning to the Bay Area for an exhibition at San José State on Aug. 9.

With a ten-day break following the homestand, the Dons will head to Southern California for a matchup with UC San Diego on Sept. 14 before returning home again to battle LMU on Sept. 24 and Saint Mary’s on Sept. 27.
Moving into October, San Francisco will face a slew of opponents from the Pacific Northwest in October as USF will travel to Gonzaga on Oct. 4 followed by a home match against Oregon State on Oct. 8. Next, the green and gold will travel north for a showdown at Portland on Oct. 11 followed by a home match against Seattle U on Oct. 18.
Staying in Northern California once more, the Dons then hit the road for matches at Pacific (Oct. 22) and Santa Clara (Oct. 25) before returning home to battle San Diego (Nov. 1).
Closing out the regular season, San Francisco will suit up for its final road match on Nov. 5 followed by its final home match of the season against Pepperdine on Nov. 8.

CHENEY. Wash. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced that both the Eastern Washington University men’s and women’s track and field teams have earned All-Academic Team honors for their performance in the classroom.
“I am extremely proud of this team,” said Director of Track and Field / Cross Country Erin Tucker. “Three years in a row we have been all-academic in XC and Track. We are working hard on our mission to be a Top-25 team, with a 3.0 GPA, while being active and engaged in the community. We are killing the 2nd and 3rd part of our mission and we take the necessary steps this year to get the 1st!”
In addition, Maddy Shekhawat was recognized individually, becoming the only Eagle named a USTFCCCA Men’s All-Academic Athlete.
“Maddy had as great of a freshman year anyone can ask for,” said Tucker. “He had some ups and downs, and he fought like real champions do. Hats off to the academic team for all their hard work with him and the team. Maddy is a great example of what we want in a Student-Athlete. Go Eags!”
To qualify for the All-Academic Team award, institutions must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for all student-athletes listed on the NCAA Squad List for indoor and/or outdoor track and field. The GPA must include the most recent grading period and be certified by the institution’s NCAA Faculty Representative, Compliance Coordinator, or Registrar’s Office.
GPA Calculation Guidelines:
- Total the cumulative number of semester or quarter hours earned by all student-athletes on the NCAA Squad List, including the most recent grading period.
- Total the cumulative number of quality points earned by those student-athletes.
- Divide the total quality points by the total credit hours to determine the cumulative GPA.
Institutions using a grading scale other than 4.0 must convert their GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard formula:
GPA ÷ Scale × 4.0

for the 2024-25 academic year.
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —
The Ferris State University volleyball program not only achieved success on the court
during the 2024 championship season but was also highly successful in the classroom
as the Bulldogs recently received American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic
Award honors for the 2024-25 academic year.
The award, which is sponsored by INTENT and started in the 1992-93 academic year,
honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the
classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point
average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
This year marks the 11th consecutive year in which the Bulldogs have achieved AVCA
Team Academic Award recognition.
The AVCA Team Academic Award is the single largest award offered by the number of
schools, players and coaches honored. Since the 2000-2001 season, the number of recipients
has increased nearly every year.
The number of award winners has increased from 62 during the initial year to a record
1,450 college and high school programs this year.
“It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the
2024-25 season have extended to the classroom,” AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon said. “The fact
that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of
how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals
as both students and athletes.”
The Bulldogs capped off a historic 2024 campaign last fall with a 34-1 overall record,
winning the Midwest Regional Championship for the first time since 2013 and reaching
the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. FSU reached the DII Sweet Sixteen for the fourth-straight
year, made its 13th consecutive national tournament appearance along with the 28th
in program history.
In addition, the Bulldogs also continued an impressive recent stretch by winning yet
again the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament
Championships under National Coach of the Year Tia Brandel-Wilhelm.
The AVCA honors follow recognition for the women’s golf team, ranking among the nation’s
top squads in the Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-Scholar Team GPA Award rankings.
The WGCA announced its Division II top 25 squads and the Bulldogs finished 12th overall
on the list with a 3.805 cumulative team grade point average in 2024-25.
Nearly 200 Ferris State student-athletes achieved GLIAC All-Academic and All-Academic
Excellence Team honors for the 2024-25 campaign. Ferris State golfer Kamryn Shannon
and tennis player Erik Kovacs earned the GLIAC Commissioner’s Award for academic and
athletic excellence.

A former Nebraska Cornhusker and professional indoor volleyball player is making a transition to the beach. Ally Batenhorst is pairing with reigning beach volleyball world champion Sara Hughes, leading up to the LA 2028 Olympics.
Battenhorst spent the last year playing for the Omaha Supernovas in the Pro Volleyball Federation. The former Husker told NBC 4 Los Angeles that she’s excited to make this change in her volleyball career.
“I would say it’s like a completely different sport. You have to learn little things like wind and you’re outside and it’s only two of you, so little things like that are an adjustment for sure. But at the end of the day, it’s volleyball.”
Battenhorst played at Nebraska from 2021 to 2023, participating in both indoor and beach volleyball. She would transfer to USC for the 2024 season and would be named an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention.
Hughes began looking for a new partner after suffering from an Achilles tendon injury, and her 2024 Olympic partner, Kelly Chen, left to partner with Molly Shaw.
