BATON ROUGE, La. – The Texas Southern men’s track & field team made history once again with its second consecutive SWAC Outdoor Championship Tuesday night.
TSU won the title with 136 total points as they held off a late charge from Jackson State. With the win, TSU becomes the first SWAC men’s track & field program since 2001-02 and 2002-03 to win back-to-back trifectas (cross country, indoor/outdoor track & field).
TSU started off day one (Sunday) strong as Jalen Walker won the hammer with a throw of 195-1 feet followed by Blaine Nunn’s personal-best and third-place mark of 177-1 feet. Trevon Hill would place seventh after a throw of 164-3 feet. Malachi Byrd finished third in the javelin as he threw 167-04 feet while Jaden Brooks placed fifth (164-03) and Hill seventh (160-0).
In the Sunday night distance run, Manuel Garza and Gael Flores placed fourth (32:52.57) and seventh in the 10,000 (33:46.57) to earn seven points.
On Monday, the throwing unit shined again as Walker (52-7.25), Hill (51-6.25) and Nunn (51-2.25) finished (2-3-4) in the shot put. Byrd returned to the podium with a second-place finish in the decathlon as he won the 110-meter hurdles while placing second in the shot put, pole vault, long jump, 1,500 and 400-meter runs. In the nightcap, David Livingston earned his first career SWAC Championship in the steeplechase as he ran 9:39.38. Jeremiah Barrera placed third in the event after running 9:53.60.
Adam Hines started off the third and final day of competition by winning his second straight SWAC Pole Vault Championship as the sophomore jumped 15-5.75 feet. Ian Charles (13-6.25) and Byrd (13-0.25) also picked up points as they placed fifth and seventh, respectively. Walker and Brooks placed fourth (154-01) and sixth (149-05), respectively in the discus while Braylon Carr finished sixth in the triple jump (49-05).
Brandon Adolphus finished fifth in the 1,500 with a personal-best time of 3:58.91 while Donyea Jarmon placed sixth (14.21) in the 110-meter hurdles. Isaac Henderson (10.44) placed fifth in the 100 while David Livingston (15:37.58), Manuel Garza (15:55.7) and Gael Flores (16:38.92) combined to earn 11 critical points in the 5,000 as they finished third, fifth and eighth, respectively.
Several individuals will await their next destination as the NCAA West Regionals will take place in College Station, Texas May 28-31.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three student-athletes from SWOSU Track & Field have been named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selections, announced this week by the organization.
Breegan Barnett, Jaci Shelton, and Marleigh West each earned the academic recognition. West is now a three-time All-District selection, while Shelton and Barnett receive honors for the first time.
Academic All-District selections were based on combined academic and athletic qualifications. Athletically, student-athletes needed to be ranked in the top-50 of the region in at least one event. In addition to the athletic qualifications, award winners must also hold a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and be at least a sophomore.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was represented by multiple student-athletes from all nine league institutions on the 2025 Academic All-District® Women’s Track & Field team, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced on Tuesday.
The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men’s track& field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members and announced on July 15.
The Division III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions III Academic All-America® programs.

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oskar Edlund and Shelby Frank each earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, announced by the organization.
Frank won the hammer and discus competition at the Big 12 outdoor meet and went on to set new personal bests in the hammer and discus at the NCAA Championships. Frank placed second in the hammer and third in the discus. Overall, Frank scored 14 of Tech’s 22 points at the NCAA meet. Frank completed the semester boasting a 4.0 GPA towards her graduate certificate in Health and Human Sciences in Education and Training.
Edlund finished second at the Big 12 outdoor meet in the 400m hurdles before wrapping up his season in fourth place at the NCAA Championships. Edlund completed capped off the semester with a 3.60 GPA in Finance.
Both Red Raiders will be put on the ballot for the Academic All-American award which will be announced on July 15 and 16.

Fort Myers Mighty Mussels’ Independence Day Celebration
The Mighty Mussels’ holiday celebration includes a Fourth of July Family Picnic Special, fireworks extravaganza and classic all-American eats. The postgame fireworks extravaganza will be the longest, largest and loudest pyrotechnics show of the 2025 baseball season. Concessions will be offering a variety of Independence Day-themed sweet treats, including Stars & Sprinkles Soft Serve, Rocket Pops, Stars and Stripes ICEEs (a red and blue ICEE with vanilla ice cream), Rainbow Dippin’ Dots, a Freedom Fizz Shirley Temple and a Yankee Doodle Bar-B-Que special that includes BBQ chicken, baked beans and coleslaw.

South Seas’ three-day Independence Weekend celebration features a wide variety of events, activities and food and drink options available to Club Captiva and registered South Seas Resort guests.
