The weekend comes, and there’s an urge to shake up your routine. It’s time to take a long run or ride to new places. That often takes tinkering on a map and can eat into riding time if you haven’t planned ahead.
Then comes the urge to just wing it, which can be fun — unless you end up riding down sketchy road shoulders, cursing yourself with every passing car.
Strava’s latest suite of updates includes route suggestions based on paths worn by its users. In effect, you can crowdsource new route suggestions — complete with a café stop at the halfway mark. If you’re still in the mood to trailblaze, more power to you. Maybe you’ll end up creating a new segment and become its leader.
Strava continues to use artificial intelligence to bolster its existing features. The biggest updates come to the app’s Routes. Here, AI leans on the data created by its more than 150 million athlete users in over 185 countries.
How does AI know what route you might like? It finds routes popular among other users based on activity type. It’s not unlike song recommendations on music apps.
As you’ll see, these improved Routes have a trickle-down effect, informing other features that will roll out this summer.

2025 Strava Updates: Crowdsourced Wayfinding
AI-Powered Routes
As mentioned above, Strava has updated its Routes experience with help from AI. Under the Maps tab, Routes generates suggestions based on its community-backed routes. It uses the app’s Global Heatmap to share or find new places to run, ride, or walk from their current location.
We can see where the machine could eventually weigh its recommendations based on users with similar performance data. However, that is wholly speculative on our part.
Tappable Points of Interest
Riding out to the nearest scenic overlook is cool, but Strava’s Points of Interest includes some more practical locations. After all, cycling and cafés are practically synonymous. And every athlete has felt the sudden urge to find the nearest restroom.
In June, subscribers can tap to find this information and have Strava generate a direct or scenic route there. These routes will include details like elevation, distance, and estimated time to arrival. The app’s Maps tab will also include community-provided photos.

Point-to-Point Routing
Strava combines its new Routes engine with info from its Global Heatmap to create the most efficient, activity-specific route to get from one spot to the next. Come July, users can simply drop a pin and go with point-to-point routing on mobile.
Fair PRs & Leaderboards
People cheat at board games, so it should never be a surprise that people will cheat to get atop Strava’s local leaderboard. Personal records and Leaderboards are a big part of the app’s experience for some athletes. Thus, the company has taken several measures to maintain their integrity.
In February, Strava began using its machine-learning models to flag suspicious activities that were incorrectly tagged. For instance, a ride that was recorded as a run, or any activity that involved a vehicle. In many cases, users forget to stop recording an effort and start to drive home. Strava detects such bad data (not cheating) and has users trim their activity.
New updates continue its efforts for accurate PRs and leaderboards.

Fair Leaderboards
As part of Strava’s ongoing efforts to uphold fair and legitimate leaderboards, the company is continuing to advance the application of its machine-learning model to police its top 10 spots on ride and run leaderboards.
Strava reports that this effort “has removed 4.45 million activities with the wrong sport type or recorded in vehicles so far, helping to rightfully restore KOMs and QOMs to reflect true performances.”
Building off these efforts, Strava is making more updates to increase confidence in its leaderboards. It’s also expanding oversight across even more live segments. Subscribers can discover and compete on these new live segments with new features like extra screens with comparison metrics.
2024 Strava Updates Now Active
If you haven’t caught up on Strava’s features recently, know that you may be sleeping on quite a few recent updates.

Last year, we reported on several soft-launched features released during Camp Strava. Among those were the much-requested Dark Mode to kill the screen brightness at night, and the AI-based coaching feature dubbed Athlete Intelligence that provides feedback after a recorded ride, run, or effort. Athlete Intelligence has since made it out of beta after positive feedback from users.
Night Heat Maps created a database of popular routes after dark. While day maps often lead to parks or water-side routes, that changes at night when safety and visibility are a higher concern. This feature can be accessed as a layer in the Maps tab.

Over the last few years, fitness trackers have become all the rage in the health and wellness space, thanks to the ultra-personalized biometric data they can provide. Fitness smartwatches have always intrigued me, but sticker shock — and, oftentimes, their bulky designs — have always scared me off. That’s why when I came across the Google Fitbit Charge 6, I was intrigued.
The health and fitness tracker has a sleek, minimal design, and thanks to early Prime Day deals, it’s on sale for $160 ahead of Amazon Prime Day 2025 — far less expensive than many similar smartwatches. Could this health tracker help me stay motivated and reach my fitness goals? Would it teach me something new about my body? To read my full review of the Google Fitbit Charge 6 Advanced Health and Fitness Tracker, scroll below.

Save on the Fitbit Charge 6 fitness tracker with GPS, heart rate and sleep.
$160 at Amazon
What is it?
The Google Fitbit Charge 6 is a wearable fitness tracker that tracks your heart rate, exercise and movements, thanks to its built-in GPS. This device is worn on your wrist like a regular watch and automatically keeps track of your daily physical activity. From daily step count to heart rate, calories burned, distance travelled and a sleep log, the watch can provide health data at a glance and give reminders to help you meet your goals.
The Google Fitbit Charge 6 also comes with a free app that provides more thorough data about your physical health and habits. The app tracks your route on bike rides or runs through a built-in GPS, provides sleep insights like how much REM sleep you got, and records how much time you spend engaging in heart-pumping activities.
Unlike many other fitness trackers, the Google Fitbit Charge 6 is quite small, so it’s discreet and easier to blend in with my daily wardrobe. It’s also lightweight and can be worn comfortably 24/7. It’s even waterproof, so you can wear it in the shower or in the pool.
What I like about it
-
It’s easy to set up: The first thing you need to do is charge your watch, which takes about an hour. While it charges, you can download the app onto your smartphone and create your profile. You’ll be asked to provide personal details like your height, weight and gender so the watch can better track you. When your watch is fully charged, all you need to do is put it on, and you’re all set. I can typically go 6-7 days before I need to charge the watch, so the battery life is awesome.
-
Intuitive user interface: I am not a tech-savvy person, so if I’m going to invest in a piece of tech, it’s got to be simple to use. I was pleasantly surprised by just how intuitive the watch and app are. The watch is perfect for at-a-glance data detailing your daily physical activity. Simply tap the screen and scroll down to see how many steps you’ve taken, how many calories you’ve burned and how far you’ve travelled that day. You can log an exercise on the watch or in the app by choosing from a menu of 40 exercises ranging from aerobics, golfing, CrossFit and dancing.
-
In-depth insight: The app provides insights into my health and habits that I would not know otherwise, like a stress management score based on your body’s signs of stress, insights into your sleep cycle, and heartbeats per minute. It presents the data in a way that is easily digestible and identifies trends in your habits so you know if you’re making progress in reaching your goals.
-
Records activity automatically: My favourite feature of the Google Fitbit Charge 6 is that it records your activity automatically, so even if you forget to begin a workout on the device (which I often do), it still tracks it. The watch will vibrate and let you know when it detects that you’ve started an exercise like biking, running or walking. From there, you just click YES, and it logs your workout data.
-
Look and feel: One of the biggest factors that has stopped me from getting into fitness trackers is their physical appearance. I’m not a fan of the bulky metal frame and big watch face strapped to your wrist. I appreciate how small and subtle the Google Fitbit Charge 6 is, and because of its size, it’s so lightweight to the point that I forget that I’m wearing it. You can buy additional bands that can be swapped out, which is also a plus.
Room for improvement
-
The only thing that really irks me about this watch is the charger. It’s bulky and unlike any other charger I have, meaning if I misplace it (which I have been known to do) or it breaks, I have to order another one. If you misplace things often, like I do, you might want to order a backup charger so you’re never left with a dead Fitbit.
What other people say

7,600+ reviews
“Spectacular watch”
The Fitbit is a fan favourite on Amazon Canada, with hundreds of five-star reviews singing its praises.
One shopper calls it “light,” noting they “can’t feel it on the wrist,” making it comfortable for everyday wear. It “gives all the information the average person would need and more,” they write.
The Fitbit is a “great basic fitness tracker,” comments another. They said it has “some solid improvements over previous models” and features “pretty accurate health tracking.” “The screen is easy to read, even in direct sunlight,” they add.
While hundreds shoppers say they love this tracker, some note that “there’s better watches out there.” Some complain about the band, stating it’s “already super worn [and] peeling,” while others say the “battery needs to be charged constantly.”
Do you need one?
If you’re looking for a user-friendly fitness tracker that will help you keep motivated and provide in-depth insights into your health and habits, the Google Fitbit Charge 6 will give you all that and more. It provides all the basic health metrics, automatically tracks activity, and sends reminders to move your body throughout the day. For more in-depth data, download the app to see things like your running route, your sleep cycle or your body’s stress management score.
In my experience, I think the Google Fitbit Charge 6 is worth it, especially if you don’t love the look of bulky smartwatches. It’s been a total game-changer for me and has helped me crush my fitness goals.

STROVOLOS, NICOSIA, CYPRUS / ACCESS Newswire / June 18, 2025 / Technology in the fitness sector keeps on gaining popularity. Fitness wearables, mobile apps, AI trainers, corporate health programs, fitness for seniors, and a focus on recovery have become the top 10 global fitness trends today. In 2025, it’s not just about more intense training but also about smarter training. It implies the application of data, flexibility, and access to fitness for all people.
In this MadMuscles review, we look at how the year’s greatest trends combine on one platform. Mad Muscles is aimed at everyone, including those who are just beginning their journey in fitness or even seasoned professional athletes. This program is already known to many people. MadMuscles is becoming more popular because of its holistic approach and use of the latest technology. By analyzing the app through the prism of 2025’s priorities, we can see not marketing hype but a live demo of where fitness is headed.
Wearables and Smart Fitness Gadgets with MadMuscles
MadMuscles has researched that wearable technology shows the biggest change in 2025. Wearables are made up of electronic devices used by individuals to monitor many facets of their performance. Real-time monitoring of your steps, heart rate, and calories burned are made possible by devices such as smartwatches or fitness bands. A recent global study indicates that over 75% of health enthusiasts are becoming more involved in the use of smart technology to enhance training.
As health becomes more important, people look for new methods to track it. And here is where wearable technology may assist. Wearable devices are supposed to allow access to data whenever a person needs it. That will enable humans to train better, hit results quicker, and prevent injuries.
A smartwatch attached to your arm is not a sure method to attain your fitness objectives. Wearables are not the only ones. To monitor health and training indicators in real time, you’ll need an app that turns that data into action. MadMuscles is one such option. The app is compatible with multiple trendy devices to optimize your exercise routine in real time. It counts steps, calories, and activity duration. Instead of tracking your activity, MadMuscles examines data and changes your strategy.
The combination of wearable gadgets and MadMuscles provides more accurate progress tracking. Users receive personalized real-time advice and progress reports. This leads to higher motivation to exercise regularly. MadMuscles keeps up with trends and makes training smarter.
