CLUB MINUTES:
VIVA MEXICO: Holding its first ever NASCAR Cup Series race, Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is set for its debut this Sunday for the Viva Mexico 250. Built in the Magdelena Mixhuca public park in 1959, the circuit hosted its first Formula One (F1) race in 1962 for a non-championship race before becoming a full World Championship event the following year. While it’s been juggled around the F1 circuit, its consistently been a part of the schedule over the past couple of years. Over the years, the circuit has changed its layout several times to switch up the full 2.674-mile, 19-turn road course.
NASCAR’S HISTORY AT MEXICO: While the NASCAR Cup Series may be making history this weekend in its inaugural race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, the sport has held a position in Mexico over the years. From 2005-2008, the Hermanos Rodríguez circuit hosted four Xfinity Series races – Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Busch were among the winners there. In addition, NASCAR has also sanctioned the NASCAR Mexico Series since its formation in 2004 and the series held their season finale there last November.
NASCAR GOES INTERNATIONAL: While NASCAR has rarely branched outside of the United States in its history, it has tested the water over the years. In addition to the four Xfinity Series races held in Mexico, NASCAR also held two Cup Series races in Canada during its early years – 1952 and 1958. The Craftsman Truck Series also held annual races at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario from 2013-2019. The NASCAR Cup Series made its farthest trip international when it held exhibition races in Japan from 1996-1998.

JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK
NO. 42 PYE-BARKER FIRE & SAFETY TOYOTA CAMRY XSE
BIRTHDAY BOY: Before heading to Mexico City this week, John Hunter will celebrate his 28th birthday on June 11.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE: Unfortunate circumstances relegated Nemechek to his first DNF of the season last week at Michigan, but year over year he is showing vast improvement. Last season his average starting position was 27.3 and finish was 25.42. This year he has an average start of 24.071 and finish of 19.429.
NEMECHEK ROAD COURSES STATS: Nemechek’s average finish at a road course in the NASCAR Cup Series is 28.3. In the Xfinity Series Nemechek has one top five and six top 10 finishes on road courses.
TMACK ON THE ROAD: Crew chief Travis Mack has a bunch of experience on road and street course tracks. In the 25 total starts, he has one victory with Daniel Suarez in 2022. Additionally, Mack has five top-five and seven top 10 finishes on road courses on his racing resume.
JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK QUOTE:
“I’m really excited for Mexico. It’s a new racetrack for a lot of the drivers in the garage. Hopefully, a lot of the prep that we’ve been able to do helps us out going into [Mexico] but it’s going to be an interesting event. I am excited to go out of the country again and see what NASCAR has been able to put together, overall, I’m really excited about it.”
TRAVIS MACK QUOTE:
“We’ll have a good amount of practice, but we’ve been running a lot of laps in the simulator – John Hunter is doing his training – we’ll get there and see how the track is and the lap times, and we’ll work the strategy that weekend after Saturday.”
ERIK JONES
NO. 43 FAMILY DOLLAR TOYOTA CAMRY XSE
FAST IN MICHIGAN: Erik Jones found speed last Sunday as the NASCAR Cup Series returned to his home track of Michigan International Speedway for the FireKeepers Casino 400. Despite a slow start to the weekend in practice and qualifying, he rolled off 22nd for the race. He was fast at the drop of the green flag on Sunday though, consistently finding long run speed throughout the race and running in the top-10. He finished 10th in Stage 2 and went on to finish just outside the top-10 at the end of the race in 11th.
NEW TERRITORY FOR JONES: Jones goes international with his No. 43 Family Dollar Toyota Camry XSE in the NASCAR Cup Series’ inaugural race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for the Viva Mexico 250. Despite this being his first race outside of the United States in the Cup Series, he has two races under his belt internationally in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series – both coming at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. In his first start at the Canadian road course, Jones started third and finished in the same spot in August 2014 when he ran a limited schedule with Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM). He returned the following year in his only full-time season in the Truck Series with KBM to start second, lead 19 laps, and score his second win of the season in August 2015. He went on to win the 2015 NASCAR Truck Series Championship.
JONES HISTORY ON ROAD COURSES: In the NASCAR Cup Series, Jones has a total of 35 starts on road courses. These have amounted in three top-fives and nine top-10s. His best finish of third came on the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway Roval in October 2020. Jones owns an additional five starts on road courses in the Xfinity Series where he has a best finish of sixth earned in August 2016 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. He has two more starts in the Craftsman Truck Series where he won in 2015 at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and finished third the year prior.
BESHORE ON ROAD COURSES: Crew chief Ben Beshore has been on top of the pit box for a total of 20 NASCAR Cup Series races at road courses. Overall, his teams have scored six top-fives and seven top-10s turning left and right in NASCAR’s elite series. He has an additional 16 road course starts in the Xfinity Series that amounted in one top-five and five top-10s.
ERIK JONES QUOTE:
“Mexico is going to be interesting. I mean, it’s going to definitely be a lot of work to just get down there. We’ve raced out of the country before in Canada years ago in the Truck Series, and it was okay. It wasn’t a bad experience in any way, and it was honestly pretty easy. It’s a little bit different now here with the travel, but the track I think is good. It’s pretty unique. There’s some really high speed stuff, and then the really slow stuff in that stadium section is like 30 mph. So, there’s going to probably be some chaos down there. Overall, it’s hard to put judgment on it because I haven’t raced it before, so I don’t want to say good or bad. We’re racing at a new venue, out of the country. I think the crowd is going to be huge from talking to a handful of people. I don’t know, it’s a little bit hard. Just get there, do it once and see how it goes. To be honest, the travel’s a little overwhelming. I’m not a guy that is super excited about that part of it, but the race itself, I’m really looking forward to.”
BEN BESHORE QUOTE:
“With it being a new track, everyone is sort of on the same page as far as not too many guys have run there outside of some of the older guys who ran in the Xfinity Series there back in the day. We’re trying to do the most we can to prepare from a simulator standpoint to get Erik reps so he’s familiar with the track. With it being a practice event, we’ll have the opportunity to work on the cars there and hopefully work on our road course program to get it better than it was earlier in the season.”

Connor Zilisch runs 10th in just his third career start.
LAP 91: Only two winners this season are running on the lead lap — Shane van Gisbergen and Kyle Larson. The chance of this race producing a new winner this season is 92% with 25 lead-lap cars.
LAP 86: Riley Herbst goes to the lead over Ty Gibbs. Tyler Reddick takes it two laps later.
LAP 82: Ty Gibbs goes to the lead ahead of Chris Buescher. Chase Elliott is up to the top-5. Tyler Reddick is up to third after a pit road penalty.

The big one has struck! Seeing Austin Cindric, Kyle Busch, William Byron, Daniel Suarez, Corey LaJoie, Ross Chastain, Ryan Preece, Chris Buescher, Bubba Wallace, Denny Hamlin, John Hunter Nemechek, Brad Keselowski, Alex Bowman, Carson Hocevar, Cody Ware, Connor Zilisch, Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson, Kyle Larson, Michael McDowell, Riley Herbst, Erik Jones, BJ McLeod involved in the wreck on lap 70.

LAP 68: Chase Elliott, Chris Buescher, Justin Haley, Ty Gibbs, John Hunter Nemechek, Tyler Reddick, Denny Hamlin, Zane Smith and Todd Gilliland stayed out and now comprise the top-nine spots. Shane van Gisbergen, who came off pit road first, is 10th. Stage one winner Austin Cindric is outside of the top-15.
The second stage is 100 laps and will end on lap 160. Ryan Blaney won’t contest the stage win after crashing at the end of the first stage.
“I couldn’t see much. I tried to get to the apron and by the time I got there, I was blocked. Story of my year, get caught up in someone’s garbage. Whenever we get something going, we have something like that happen. That’s the way it goes sometimes,” Blaney said after his sixth DNF of the 2025 season.
STAGE ONE TOP-10 (LAP 60): Austin Cindric, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, William Byron, Carson Hocevar, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Josh Berry, Bubba Wallace, Shane van Gisbergen, Chase Elliott. Cindric took the lead on lap 49 and led three times for eight laps at the end of the stage to claim the 10 bonus points and a playoff point.
LAP 57: Brad Keselowski goes for the lead and takes it briefly but Austin Cindric gets out in front as Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney and Austin Dillon crash in turn four. A.J. Allmendinger, Kyle Larson and Connor Zilisch also got in the crash. Blaney is likely done for the day after a hard hit.
LAP 49: Austin Cindric takes the lead from Joey Logano to take the lead away from him for the first time all day. Logano led the first 48 laps. Cindric leads for three, Logano takes it back as they jostle for the lead.
Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, Josh Berry, Brad Keselowski, William Byron, Carson Hocevar and Kyle Larson stayed out from first and seventh. Austin Dillon, Michael McDowell and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. also stayed out and round out the top-10. They ran 13th, 31st and 32nd before this.
The red flag is lifted and the field is back under caution. Here are the biggest movers so far:
Full running order under red flag, lap 43 of 60 in the first stage.
LAP 37: Caution flies for rain. Joey Logano leads Austin Cindric, Josh Berry, Brad Keselowski, William Byron, Kyle Larson, Carson Hocevar, Ryan Preece, Christopher Bell and Ryan Blaney.
NASCAR officials: “Light rain all the way around the track but no change to the surface.”
Chase Briscoe fell back to 39th with a tight-handling car. He says, “The spike is worse on the bottom but the rest of the corner is variable. As soon as I get to throttle, the load feels like a broken toe link.” Briscoe reports he hit the wall on the first lap and is struggling with the bumps.
LAP 32: Joey Logano has led every lap but Josh Berry and Brad Keselowski are all over Logano. One lap, it’s Berry going to the inside of Logano. One lap, it’s Keselowski. Another lap, it’s one of them going to the outside. It’s a close battle for the lead.
LAP 25: No one has moved through the field more than Carson Hocevar. Hocevar started 30th and has moved up to sixth.
Brad Keselowski caught up to the top-four driver and is trying to break them up. He is somewhat successful and looks for second.
Tyler Reddick reports he is, “really tight,” along with other drivers.
Ryan Blaney clears Brad Keselowski from the inside lane. the charge from Keselowski on back is dying out. Cole Custer challenges Ryan Preece for position and Preece takes it. Everyone is spaced out some but still racing closely. Handling is a clear factor.
TOP-10, LAP 10: Joey Logano, Josh Berry, Austin Cindric, Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Preece, Zane Smith, Alex Bowman, Cole Custer, Chris Buescher.
Justin Haley dropped back to 36th from 22nd. TNT revealed radio transmission that Haley drank an energy drink before getting in the car.
LAP 1: Joey Logano leads with Josh Berry and Austin Cindric in tow. Ryan Blaney runs behind his teammates but Brad Keselowski is challenging with help from teammate and driver Ryan Preece.
The engines are fired and drivers are ready to roll for the NASCAR Cup Series’ Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway Atlanta. The first stage is 60 laps in length.
On average, there is at least one caution in stage one. Three of the seven stage one winners on this configuration of Atlanta have gone on to win the race. There is an average of around 9-10 cautions in Cup races at Atlanta.
Joey Logano and Josh Berry tied for the pole but Logano won the tiebreaker to lead eight Ford drivers to the green flag. Alex Bowman and Chase Briscoe start ninth and tenth as the only non-Ford drivers in the top-10.
Joey Logano has won seven NASCAR Cup Series races from the pole — most recently in March 2023 at this track. Logano has won a pole in 14 of his 17 seasons.
NASCAR provided TRE with the following information the 2025 Quaker State 400 at EchoPark:
Here is when everything will start:
The track was under a 30-minute lightning hold as of 5:36 p.m. ET. However, this isn’t expected to bleed into the scheduled start of the race.

Sports Seriously
An exciting night of racing is on tap in Hampton, Georgia, as EchoPark Speedway (formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway) hosts a prime-time NASCAR Cup Series race that will also serve as the first round of the inaugural NASCAR In-Season Challenge.
Priority No. 1 for the full field of drivers on the high-speed, high intensity oval: take the checkered flag in the Quaker State 400 and celebrate in victory lane. But for the 32 drivers that are participating in the in-season tournament, there is a second priority: outduel your head-to-head opponent and advance to the second round.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin and Chase Briscoe earned the top two seeds in the In-Season Challenge and will face the No. 32 and No. 31 seeds, respectively, but there are 14 other intriguing matchups to follow during the race as drivers endeavor to finish better than their opponent and compete again next week on the streets of Chicago in the tournament’s Sweet 16.
In the meantime, there are stages to win, regular-season and playoffs points to amass and a burnout to be had for the winning driver.
USA TODAY Sports will have coverage of the Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway. Follow along for all the action and results:
Chris Buescher and Ty Gibbs led the field to green for the restart of Stage 2. More than 10 cars are either out of the race or in the garage.
Joey Logano joined Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney with an early exit from the Quaker State 400 after his crew was unable to repair the big damage from the multicar crash to open Stage 2. NASCAR points leader William Byron was also in the garage along with last week’s leader Chase Briscoe and Trackhouse racing teammates Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez.
Moments after the green flag waved to start Stage 2, the Big One unfolded at EchoPark Speedway after Denny Hamlin made contact with John Hunter Nemechek, causing a massive crash that engulfed a large chunk of the field. Both cars had begun the second segement in the Top 10, so multiple rows racing behind them were collected.
Hamlin, the No. 1 seed in the inaugural NASCAR In-Season Challenge, was towed to the garage as was Stage 1 winner Austin Cindric after both suffered major damage. Pole winner Joey Logano also sustained major damage. An estimated 23 cars were involved in the crash, which will have big implications for the first round of the Challenge.
NASCAR displayed the red flag on Lap 70 of 260 to tow cars off the track and clean up the oval.
Chase Elliott and Chris Buescher led the field to green on a restart on Lap 69 of 260 to begin Stage 2 of the Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway. The second and third segments are each scheduled for 100 laps.
Christopher Bell got loose with three laps remaining in the 60-lap opening stage between Turn 3 and Turn 4 to trigger a multicar crash and bring out the caution flag. Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson, Bubba Wallace, Austin Dillon, Kyle Busch and AJ Allmendinger were among the drivers who sustained some damage. Blaney exited his car, ending his race, after a hard hit into the outside wall. It was Blaney’s sixth DNF this season.
The stage finished under caution with Austin Cindric winning the opening segment. He was followed by Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, William Byron, and Carson Hocevar in the top five. Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Josh Berry, Shane Van Gisbergen, Chase Elliott and Wallace rounded out the Top 10.
Joey Logano and Austin Cindric led the field to green following a roughly 15-minute delay for weather. The majority of cars came down pit road prior to the restart for fuel, tires and/or adjustments, including Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Bubba Wallace, Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin. But the leaders stayed out. There are 12 laps remaining in the first stage.
As the race remains under a weather delay at EchoPark Speedway, NASCAR officials displayed the red flag on Lap 43 and brought the cars down pit road. The rain remains light.
A light sprinkle has hit EchoPark Speedway bringing out the caution flag. Joey Logano has led every lap of the race so far. Drivers are expected to hit pit road for adjustments during the caution period.
Pole winner Joey Logano has led all 35 laps in the opening stage of the Quaker State 400. The first stage is 60 laps. Austin Cindric, Josh Berry, Brad Keselowski, William Byraon and Kyle Larson round out the top six.
The green flag has waved for the Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway in Hampton, Georgia. Joey Logano in the No. 22 Team Penske Ford is on the front row alongside Josh Berry in the Wood Brothers No. 21 Ford.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a brand-new racetrack; Corey Heim and TRICON Garage continue to be the driver and team to beat every single week in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Heim will be leading the field to green for Saturday’s LiUNA! 150, the inaugural NASCAR Truck Series event at Lime Rock Park, after laying down the quickest lap that the Connecticut-based road course has seen all weekend long.
The Marietta, Georgia-native catapulted his No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro to the top of the speed charts in the final moments of Saturday morning’s qualifying session, dethroning Jordan Taylor, a four-time champion of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
With an incredibly quick lap time of 53.115 seconds, Heim was the first (and so far the only) driver to exceed the 100mph barrier on the 1.478-mile road course this weekend, clocking in with an average speed of 100.175mph.
As the final minutes of the session clicked off, the fight for the pole came down to Heim and road course ace Jordan Taylor, who made a slight mistake on his second qualifying lap, costing the Spire Motorsports driver the pole in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut.
“I think if [Jordan Taylor] had a mistake-free lap, we were probably going to be in second there. My first lap out was actually really good, I think it was just a matter of the tires coming up to temp the second time,” Heim said. “I was actually really sloppy on the lap, I ended up putting down that got us the pole. I thought my first lap was better, but like I said, the tire grip wasn’t there on the first run.”
In securing another pole position, the 10th of his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career, Heim becomes just the 13th driver to reach double-digit poles in the series, and the 10th to secure double-digit poles AND wins.
STARTING LINEUP: 2025 NCTS LiUNA! 150 at Lime Rock Park
“I mean, I’ll take it,” Heim added. “I missed a couple of gears, missed a couple of shifts that last lap, but it just shows the speed of our Tundra today.”
Jordan Taylor, making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut in the No. 7 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports, will start from the outside of the front row for Saturday’s 100-lap contest.
Layne Riggs, winner of the most recent event for the series at Pocono Raceway, will start third, with Ty Majeski, and 17-year-old Brent Crews rounding out the top-five starters for the event.
Kaden Honeycutt, Rajah Caruth, Connor Mosack, Chandler Smith, and Andres Perez De Lara rounded out the top-10 in qualifying. De Lara, driving the No. 77 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports, was the quickest of the drivers in Group A.
Other notable drivers include Daniel Hemric (11th), Gio Ruggiero (12th), Grant Enfinger (14th) despite an issue in his group, Tyler Ankrum (15th), Jake Garcia (17th), Ben Rhodes (19th), and Stewart Friesen (22nd).
Jack Wood, driver of the No. 91 for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, was the only driver who failed to turn a lap around Lime Rock Park in Saturday’s group qualifying session, and thus, will start 34th.

Start your engines and whip out your checkbooks! A North Carolina property owned by NASCAR veteran Martin Truex Jr. has officially rumbled onto the market. Nestled on the outskirts of Charlotte in Mooresville—known as “Race City USA” for its large concentration of racing teams and drivers—the sprawling waterfront spread is listed for $7.5 million with Liza Caminiti of Ivester Jackson Christie’s International Real Estate.
The recently retired NASCAR driver bought the property in April 2006 for nearly $1.5 million and subsequently custom-built a European-style manor that was completed in 2010. Sited in the Northwood neighborhood amid a gated parcel spanning nearly five acres on the shore of Lake Norman, the stucco and stone structure has a combined total of five bedrooms and nine baths in roughly 14,300 square feet.

In addition to a main home featuring a little more than 8,700 square feet on three levels, a carriage house sports a guest apartment up top and a climate-controlled four-car garage with a workshop down below. Primed for auto enthusiasts, the four-car garage could potentially hold eight vehicles with added lifts, while another garage offers up two more spaces.
A turreted entryway opens to reveal a vaulted living room anchored by a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and large expanses of glass offering picturesque lake views. Other main-level highlights include a gourmet kitchen with a fireside family room on one side and a breakfast nook on the other, as well as a posh primary suite hosting a balcony, a coffee bar, a two-story closet, and a spa-inspired bath with a built-in spa tub and huge walk-in steam shower.
Three additional en suite bedrooms and an office with a ladder-accessible loft can be found upstairs, while the lower level is decked out with a full bar, a game lounge, a mirrored gym, and a crimson-hued movie theater that has a star-lit ceiling and an accompanying snack bar.

Outdoors, the woodsy grounds are spotlighted by a grotto-style infinity pool with a spa and waterfalls, a covered patio with a grilling station, a fire pit, and a garden-laced pathway leading down to a private dock with a boat lift. An added bonus: The buyer has an opportunity to purchase an adjacent 4.6-acre plot of land that’s also owned by Truex.
A professional NASCAR driver for more than two decades, the soon-to-be 45-year-old Truex retired from full-time competition after the 2024 season as the 2017 Cup Series champ and a two-time Xfinity Series winner. The future NASCAR Hall of Famer, who is selling because he’s already moved out of state, hails from a racing family that includes his father, Martin Truex Sr., a former NASCAR Busch North Series racer who died earlier this year at age 66. His younger brother, Ryan Truex, is a three-time Xfinity Series winner.

Welcome to the Racing America On SI Live Race Updates page for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta.
Be sure to refresh this post throughout Saturday night’s event as the Live Race Updates story will be updated regularly with the biggest moments from the 400-mile race around the 1.54-mile drafting track, including lead changes, crash replays, the winner of the race, finishing results, and In-Season Tournament updates.
Jory Logano, and Austin Cindric, who did not pit under this caution, lead the field to green. They are side-by-side up front, and Cindric looks to have a slight advantage going into Turns 3 and 4, and Cindric leads Lap 49. This is the first lead change of the race.
The fuel can and fueling area on Noah Gragson’s No. 4 Ford caught fire as he was peeling out of his pit stall during his pit stop under this caution. Fortunately, the fire went out as he drove off pit road.
Christopher Bell also exited his pit stall wide, which forced Bubba Wallace to drive through the grass with his right side tires.
Christopher Bell was the lone driver who couldn’t get his car to fire on pit road, but after a push from the tow truck, Bell was able to catch up to the field and take his position back.
Track drying efforts are nearly completed, and the drivers have been instructed to re-fire their engines.
While Joey Logano has led every lap of this race, we’ve seen some good racing in the pack, and drivers throughout the field have complained about ill-handling cars with the aging track surface at EchoPark Speedway. Handling will be at a premium tonight.
Chase Briscoe has had a rough start to the race and has dropped to 39th from the 10th starting spot. Briscoe has told his team it’s like his right rear tire hasn’t even been touching the track. A lot of bad balance issues are going on with the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota right now.
We’re about to head to a red flag for rain as the drops continue to fall in Turns 1 and 2 and down the backstretch of the EchoPark Speedway. The NASCAR Tower is calling for drivers to park in the outside lane of pit road. Drivers are being told to stay in their cars as this is expected to be a brief delay.

We’re under caution for the first time in the Quaker State 400 on Lap 36. This caution is unfortunately for perecipitation. Right now, it looks like light sprinkles to light rain, but there are reports that drops are intensifying in Turns 1 and 2.
Brad Keselowski has moved into the second position, and he is threatening to become the first leader of this race not named Joey Logano.
William Byron was not happy with Carson Hocevar. he rebounded from being placed in the middle, and worked to the outside of the track, where he zoomed around Hocevar for the seventh position.
The Chevrolet camp has gotten their resources together and they have six cars lined up behind the top-six Fords. The Chevys, now led by William Byron are starting to make their move, but Hocevar cuts to the inside of Byron and goes three wide with Byron and Cindric. Yikes, that was sketchy, but they get through it. Hocevar has killed the Chevrolet momentum, and Byron is stuck in the middle.
Carson Hocevar has found a way through the pack as he has moved his No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet from the 30th starting spot to seventh. Hocevar is now the highest-running non-Ford driver. Joey Logano continues to lead this race.
All four Hendrick Motorsports cars have gotten hooked up with Alex Bowman (8th) leading them. They are starting to try to pry some of the Ford contingent apart from each other. Logano still leads Berry, Blaney, Cindric, with Zane Smith, Brad Keselowski and Ryan Preece in front of the four Hendrick cars.
Ryan Blaney was able to clear Brad Keselowski, who had been hanging on his outside, and now it’s all Team Penske up front. The top-four have broken into a single file line in front of the pack and are still led by Logano. It looks like Team Penske is doing its best impersonation of Stewart-Haas Racing at Talladega a few years ago.
After a strong qualifying effort, the blue ovals hold the top eight spots in the running order on Lap 4. Joey Logano still leads. Kyle Larson is the first non-Ford in the running order in ninth.
Joey Logano got a great push from Ryan Blaney to start the race, and he cleared Josh Berry in Turn 1. Coming off of Turn 1 on the opening lap, Logano goes to the outside lane in front of Berrt. All four Penske-affiliated cars are all now lined up bumper to tail on the bottom lane.
Brad Keselowski is leading the outside lane on the outside of Blaney.
The green flag is waving on the Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway in Hampton, GA. The front two rows leading the field are occupied by all of the Team Penske-affiliated cars. Joey Logano and Josh Berry lead the field into Turn 1.
Logano is in the inside line with Ryan Blaney behind him while Berry is up top with Austin Cindric behind him.
The engines have been fired, and we are ready to start pace laps for the Quaker State 400.

The invocation, National Anthem, and flyover ahead of Saturday night’s Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway have been completed. The drivers are now sliding behind the wheel of their race cars, and we are approaching the command to fire engines.

Ahead of Saturday night’s Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway, the 32 drivers taking part in the NASCAR In-Season Tournament were introduced on the frontstretch stage alongside their opponent in Round 1 of the tournament in a “fight weigh-in” style set up.
No drivers got more into the shtick than Michael McDowell and AJ Allmendinger, who had a tussle on the stage prior to stepping up on the scales.

NASCAR has confirmed that as of now no cars will drop to the rear before the green flag of Saturday night’s Quaker State 400.
The sanctioning body has also revealed the complete pre-race festivities schedulen and the approximate green flag time:
The 30-minute clock has expired on the lightning hold at EchoPark Speedway. No additional lightning strikes have occurred in the vicinity of the 1.54-mile speedway in Hampton, GA, there has been no rain fall as of yet.
The situation at the track is very overcast skies, and the radar shows plenty of weather in and around the area. But as it stands, there is still no delay to Saturday night’s Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway.
Weather is building around EchoPark Speedway, and while no rain has hit the track just yet, lightning in the area has forced NASCAR and the track to evacuate the grandstands and pit road at the 1.54-mile speedway.
There is still over an hour before the scheduled start time of Saturday night’s race, but there is a significant weather system building to the Northwest of the track, which has grown a lot in the last 30 minutes.
As of now, there is no delay to the start of the Quaker State 400. If the conditions change, we’ll update you.
Christopher Bell came out of the gates firing in 2025 as he scored three consecutive wins early in the season, and went on to win the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Strangely, Bell’s longtime spotter Stevie Reeves quit the No. 20 team following the All-Star Race, which put Bell and his team in a bind.
Matt Philpott, a longtime crew member in the sport and relatively new spotter, stepped in to fill the void for Bell and the No. 20 team in the Coca-Cola 600. However, when HYAK Motorsports released veteran spotter Tab Boyd following a controversial social media post during the Mexico City race weekend, Joe Gibbs Racing saw an opportunity to add an experienced spotter for Bell’s team.
However, with the latest spotter change, Bell will now need to build rapport at one of the most stressful tracks there are for driver/spotter combinations — EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta. Needless to say, Bell is going into Saturday night’s race expecting a struggle in the early portion of the race.
“Uh, yeah, it’s going to be tough,” Bell stated. “I’ve listened to Tab on our replay system, but aside from that, that’s all we’ve got. It’s going to be tough, for sure, getting acclimated at probably one of the most spotter-intense race tracks on the calendar, but Tab has a bunch of experience. So, we’ll play it by ear. And definitely the first Stage or two is going to be a learning curve.”

The Quaker State 400 will be televised on TNT, the first of five NASCAR Cup Series races to be covered by the cable television channel this season. The TNT Sports race broadcast will begin at 7:00 PM ET, and the five-race TNT schedule can also be streamed on the Max streaming service.
The Performance Racing Network (PRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will provide the radio broadcast of Saturday’s race. For subscribers of the Max streaming service, NASCAR Driver Cam, which streams live in-car camera footage from every car in the field, will be available for today’s race.
The overall race purse, which teams will fight for their portion of in Saturday’s race, is a total of $11,055,250.
The race distance is 260 laps around the 1.54-mile drafting track, which equates to a 400.4-mile race distance.
The Quaker State 400 will be broken up into three Stages. Stage 1 will end at the conclusion of Lap 60. Stage 2 will end at the conclusion of Lap 160. And the race is scheduled to finish at the end of Lap 260, barring an Overtime finish.
The winner of Stages 1 and 2 will be awarded one Playoff Point, and the overall race winner will be awarded five Playoff Points. The Playoff Points will be added to the reseeded point totals if the drivers make it into the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, and will be carried through each round of the Playoffs.
Joey Logano is the defending winner of this event, and Christopher Bell won the event at EchoPark Speedway earlier this season.
Joey Logano, the defending winner of the Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway (formerly known as Atlanta Motor Speedway) will start the race from the pole position after he turned a lap time 30.979 seconds (178.960 mph) in Friday’s qualifying session.
It took a tiebreaker for Logano to pick up his first pole of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season as Josh Berry, the driver of the Team Penske-affiliated No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse turned the exact same lap time.
All four of the Team Penske-affiliated cars will start from the top-four spots in Saturday night’s race as Ryan Blaney secured the third starting spot and Austin Cindric will roll from the grid in fourth.
“Super proud of Team Penske, Roush-Yates, and Ford, obviously. To keep our Mustangs up there, really shows the ability to repeat from car to car,” Logano said. “It’s really hard to do. When you see we tied with the 21, and the other cars were all within a couple of hundredths of second. When you think of all of the parts and pieces in a race car and how you can put them together, to make them all end up the same like that is pretty impressive.”

Despite missing the race at Mexico City (the second race of the three-race seeding period), Denny Hamlin will enter Saturday night’s Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway as the No. 1 seed in the In-Season Tournament, which was based off of the Denny Hamlin bracket tournament that he created on his Actions Detrimental Podcast a season ago.
Seeding was determined by best race finish in the three-race period, and by way of his win at Michigan, Hamlin joined Chase Briscoe, who won at Pocono, as the only tournament-eligible drivers that won over the three race seeding period.
By way of a runner-up finish at Pocono, Hamlin won the tie-breaker over Briscoe to take the No. 1 seed.
32 drivers will be paired off in groups of two (determined by the three-race tournament seeding period (Michigan, Mexico City, Pocono). The tournament will be a five-round head-to-head elimination style bracket tournament, where the top seed remaining will face off agains the lowest seed remaining each week.
The driver, who outlasts the 31 others in the bracket, will be awarded a $1 million bonus at the conclusion of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Here are all of the head-to-head matchups in Saturday night’s race, which will serve as the opening round of NASCAR’s inaugural In-Season Challenge.
